Self-Insertion

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , , , , | 9 Comments
I was musing the other day on the whole PoV thing. I like writing in 1st. I *can* write in 3rd, but I just prefer 1st for some reason. This new book I’m working on is actually in 1st person present – again, I’m not sure why, and I don’t know if it will stay that way. Just seems to be the way it wants to come out and I’ve learned it’s not worth fighting the muse over. I always hear that writing in 1st person is risky since a lot of people don’t seem to care for it. Maybe it’s the limited information or the “I did x” lines that tend to get on people’s nerves. Personal preference is what it is, but one thing I sometimes wonder is if readers tend to be harsher on the protags of a 1st person story. Books are often escapist, and I… Read more

Without Tears

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , , , , | Leave a comment
Today’s blog is a bit muzzy. I always get a bit discombobulated when I end up doing something for my back (a second round of IV therapy), and it tends to cut into the day. Still waiting to see if the therapy is going to help – I was told it would take 2 or 3 rounds before we really knew anything. I felt really bad in the waiting room though – there was a lovely old lady who was clearly in so much  pain, she actually started crying when the nurse asked her what her pain level was. Except she couldn’t cry – apparently she’d had some terrible fall a few years past and whatever had happened (it was pretty awful, I’m guessing – think she cracked her skull real bad) – it took away her ability to create tears. But I guess she had some sort of recent… Read more

Updates and Sundry

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , | 6 Comments
Lots of links and catching up to do today, so let me get started.  First of all, I am going to do NaNoWriMo this year! I’ve done it before, but the last few years I was right in the middle of a deadline and couldn’t spare the time, but this year it falls inside a perfect window. I’m working on a new project and I figure it would be a great way to get my ass in gear. If you’re interested in adding me a a writing buddy – I go by mynfel, so feel free to add me. 🙂 (And I’d love to set up some sort of virtual write-in a few times over the month, so let me know if that’s something you’d like to be part of.) As a follow up to Friday’s bullying post – I admit I wasn’t sure if I should post it. After… Read more

Authors Against Bullying: I Have No Fucks Left To Give

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , , | 21 Comments
So today is Authors Against Bullying day. Which I forgot to sign up for – though Jess Haines was nice enough to send me an email about it – it just got lost in the NYCC craziness. There’s a whole blog hop going on which I’m not a part of – you can check it out here. That being said, I suppose I’m going to just post my own thing here. Understand that it’s going to be somewhat ranty. I have a lot of anger still.  I’ve debated using real names – in the past, I’ve never mentioned who these people are, but I can’t decide if that’s the way to go or not. I mean, why should I protect anyone at this point? (But hey, I’m in the public eye a bit more, and nothing is worse than a batshit crazy author, so perhaps real first name, last initial… Read more

Word-Whore ~ Fox and Willow Thursday

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , , , | Leave a comment
This is one of those days where I feel like all I’m going to do is post links about where I am. >_< First off – my post at Word-Whores is about superstitious characters this week. (And why I don’t seem to have any.) New Fox & Willow up today – page 50, if you can believe that! Blog Tour stuff: Read an excerpt from A Trace of Moonlight over at Urban Fantasy Investigations (What’s it like to come back from the dead and realize your Dreaming Heart is destroyed? Abby finds out in this little section…) Review and Giveaway over at Confessions from Romaholics. I *think* that’s it for today! 😀… Read more
