The Fog of War

We had a weird sunset the other night, lots of strange clouds stretched out like a big ocean in the sky. I don’t think I was really able to capture it on my little camera (though you can see the moon there too in the right corner). It was actually a bit overwhelming to look at . In some ways plotting is like this for me. (Which is relevant since I’m working on that outline for CoD.) I have all these ideas, swirling around in a big pile, but they move and change shape, even as I try to capture them. It’s frustrating in some ways because I have to force the issue in my head a little bit. The publisher requires a 10 to 15 page outline to make sure we’re on the same page as far as the direction is going. And that’s not to say its set… Read more

The Weighting is the Hardest Part

Sadly enough, I weighed myself today for the first time in a few weeks – and I’m now officially at least 8 pounds heavier than I was this time last year. Most of it has come on in the last month or so – all those late night edits and stress snacks have finally taken their toll.** That and I’ve basically been a slug – although frustratingly enough I went to use my treadmill last week and discovered it was well and truly broken – turns out the hex bolt that keeps the tread on the track snapped out of the plastic housing that holds it in place. It’s over 8 years old so I’m pretty sure they don’t make parts for it anymore – assuming it’s even really fixable. The Moon That Has No Mistress

Apparently I’ve been in a closet the last few months (editing, ha), but it has come to my attention that The Last Unicorn is being released in graphic novel form! Seeing as it’s one of the most brilliant books ever written, I’m super excited. They are coming out as a set of 6 comics, which you can order from IDW. Or, if you’re an obsessive fan of the book, you can subscribe to the series from Conlan Press (and get them signed by Peter S. Beagle too!) I will go back to my forest too, but I do not know if I will live contentedly there, or anywhere. I have been mortal, and some part of me is mortal yet. Procrastination Station

Yeah, I’m working on my outline for Book 2. Which is sort of due next week. (Actually, I’ve got to mid-July, but I’m going on vacation next Friday and I’d really like to get it done before then.) So of course, I’m trolling youtube, because I work better that way. Really.
