Finding Balance

This probably should be one of my resolutions. Or at least to start eating less. (Which seems like an oxy-moron. I mean, how can you start doing something *less*? Mmph. Whatever. Stop eating so much.) But to be honest, this past year things got a bit off kilter, so really my New Year Resolution should be about regaining balance. Whatever that actually is. Chances are I’ll never really find it, although I have to say working this week from home has been a nice step in that direction. It won’t last, but being able to sorta work around my own schedule without the issue of hours wasted on a commute? Freaking priceless. An extra hour of sleep here or there has made a rather nice difference in my overall attitude – both in sleep and the fact that I’ve been able to move straight to the edits immediately after work.… Read more

Back From the Brink

…so to speak. Obviously I haven’t been blogging for a few days. It’s the fun of the family and holiday thing, I guess. That and continuing to work on my quick and dirty revisions for A Trace of Moonlight before I hand the draft into the editor next week. Incidentally, A Trace of Moonlight is the official title now. (It’s what the end of SoS lists as the snippet for the next book, so I’ll run with that assumption, anyway.) (And like everything else I write, my standard MO applies. I come and go in waves both as I write and edit, wavering between, “wow, this is actually pretty good” to “Jesus, this is the worst piece of crap to ever come off the keyboard.” However, I’m about halfway through here, and so far I’m actually feeling okay about it. Christmas Eve Eve

Not much of a post today, I’m afraid. Too much going on and no time to do it in. Plus now that the draft is done, my brain is leaping forward into the next project (though I keep having to rein it in – there are revisions due there bucko…settle down!) Makes for little sleep. Think I’ve maybe gotten 3 or 4 max the last several nights, mostly because the wheels are spinning and spinning. But I actually sorta welcome it – it’s hard in the mornings, but I do have to admit I’ve really missed that mad *need* to get something down on the page, even if it’s just in short story snippets that won’t go anywhere. Maybe it’s more of a bribe. I feed the muse and in return I’ll get through these revisions in no time, right? (And wouldn’t *that* be a lovely Christmas gift to myself?… Read more
