*grumbles*

You know, just ONCE, I’d like technology to work. The third replacement video card Dell sent me finally blew out tonight, but this time it pulled the entire motherboard down with it. Yeah, nothing like that lovely burning smell to solidify the sudden “Oh Shit” feeling in the pit of my stomach. I had a spare NVidia GeForce 260 GTX kicking around, so I replaced the burned out card, but the computer booted up realllly slowllly. Eventually the monitor came on, but after a subsequent reboot, nothing. My warranty runs out in May, so Dell is sending me a new motherboard and a new video card. (both probably refurbs, of course). I dunno. I’ve had nothing but issues with this thing since I bought it almost 3 years ago – and considering it was over $4000, I’m feeling a tad ripped off. At the Starting Line

When I was a Freshman in high school, I ran the 400 M, the 200 M and the 4 x. 400 M relay for the Varsity Track & Field team. I’d like to think I had a lot of potential – at the age of 14 I could do a quarter mile in just under 65 seconds. (Which isn’t Olympic speed, I realize, but it’s still pretty good.) I had a very long stride, earning me the nickname of ‘Horse’. My legs would completely leave the ground at times. (And not to be too much of a freak, but although I’m about 5’6″ tall, my arm and leg-spans are those of someone who is 5’9″. Had to get measured for a potential heart issue once, which is how I know.) Unfortunately, my running career went down the tubes when I massively injured my right knee. It’s Called Fiction For a Reason

An interesting topic came up the other day when I was talking to my aunt. I had sent her my ms a few weeks ago, just to get a feel for what she thought of it – we read a lot of the same sorts of books, after all.I’d love for her to love it, but if she doesn’t, that’s okay too.  And at the same time, there’s a *lot* of me in this book – the average person might not see it, but knowing me as well as she does, she’s already been able to pick out quite a bit. I feel a little more exposed than I thought I would and that makes me leery about having other family members read it. Which of course, they can do as they like. The Host Without the Most

Not that I have any illusions about my power on teh internets, but for the love of all that’s holy, avoid using Colorteck.com as your webhost. I’m not sure what’s happened to them recently – I’ve used them for years for my very quiet personal site and never had an issue. And keep in mind that when I did sign up with them, they had a phone number you could call (which I did sometimes), but otherwise it’s been a good thing. However, last Friday I discovered that my site was listed as “temporarily suspended”. I never got any kind of email notification about it, and I had just paid for another 6 months of service via paypal the week before.
