Still Not Really a Review

Since I actually did get my Kindle set up and working last week (and skinned, thanks to the lovely people over at skinit.com, I figured I’d go ahead and buy a few books off it and see how I liked reading it. It’s taken me a little bit, but I have to admit I’m really liking it now. (I went a little cross-eyed at first for some reason, but I’ve been using it every night for the past week and I don’t think I have any complaints. In fact, I’m beta reading for a few people and it’s been great being able to email myself the word docs directly to the device and now I can read them wherever. Spiderman Diarrhea and Other Things I Wish I Hadn’t Heard…

I took today off from work, simply because I needed a bit of a mental health day. I’ve got a very full plate these days, and part of that was compounded by the fact that I had to watch my younger cousin all weekend. (And Lucy was up half the night last night, and a crazy ass windstorm kept us up for the other half. Lots of waking up and wondering if the remainder of our gazebo had just blown off the deck.) Babysitting should have been fine because both my kids adore her, but with an odd-number of children and varying ages (3, 6 and 11) there was a lot of 3rd wheel action going on. As a result I didn’t get nearly as much done as I would have liked – lots of interruptions every five minutes about how who wouldn’t play with who, wailing about why so-and-so… Read more

Slumming for Ideas

So, part of what is going on with the book thing is that my agent is trying to sell me as a two-book deal. (And it’s probably going to go that way, if everything lines up the way it should). And this is a Good Thing. After all, I had already started writing the sequel a few months ago, and once it becomes official, I’ll start focusing most of my writing time on finishing it. (And I would have had more of it done already, but being that I wasn’t sure if Book 1 would sell, I wanted to work on a different project as well. You know. Just in case I sucked.) However, things won’t be stopping here, as during the last conversation with my agent she asked what else I was working on. Forgive me the utter fangirlishness of this post, if you will. This morning has been a rather wretched affair of unanswered emails as I discovered that my “real” website had been suspended, even though I just paid the host for another 6 months of service. I have yet to get a single reply except that they have forwarded my issue to billing. But that was 8 hours ago, and I refuse to fuck around with my hosting, so I’ve dumped them and found a new one. Let’s just hope DNS kicks in quick enough that I don’t lose too much email. *ahem* Anyway, so about this whole perception thing. Yes, in looking at the picture there, it seems pretty harmless.
