Vagueness

You know, I *do* love it when a plan for a potential project comes together. Hopefully the one I have in mind will work out. Not that I can really talk about at it at the moment. (Mostly because I’m still feeling out some details, but also because I don’t want to jinx it.) No, it’s not related to publishing or books or anything like that. Decisions, Decisions

No particular reason for the picture except it made me laugh. Plus, we have these exact same coffee thingies at work. Urge to troll rising…rising…yeah…I probably will. Anyway, I find myself in a bit of a conundrum with my latest book, mainly with Abby’s relationships. And I’ve talked about it before, but I was hoping that once I actually started writing it (panster that I am), things would become a bit more clear…and they aren’t. Admittedly I’m only 30k into it and a lot can happen in the next 60 to 70k, for sure, so I’m not completely despairing. The harder part is I can’t *really* talk about it openly yet – not without spoiling the hell out of people. But I can’t exactly wait around and poll people either – for one, as an author, it would be a great disservice to not write a story the way it needs to… Read more

Copy…Edit…Repeat as Necessary

I clutched at the necklace, feeling the Key spark beneath my fingertips. I willed it to open, the balloon effect softer, the magic seeming to slip through my hands as I tried to focus where I wanted to go. “Do you have it?” Ion grunted, worrying at the arrow shaft in his leg. “He can’t hold them off for much longer.” “It’s not the fucking TARDIS ,” I snapped, blinking against the power. *** Copy edits for A Sliver of Shadow came in today – it’s a bit bittersweet, actually. On one hand, the book is that much closer to coming out and that is exciting. On the other, there’s a little bit of dread involved. Some of the copyedits are obvious and easy – typos or the fact that my characters seem to “snort” a lot. *snip snip* and we’re all done. Others require a little more thought and sometimes… Read more

Midnight Shinies

One elvish prince, coming up! (For those of you who want a sneak peek. Talivar makes a brief appearance at the end of A Brush of Darkness, but is a major character in A Sliver of Shadow). The awesome Darchala has sent me this lovely rough sketch of Talivar for his upcoming trading card. I dig the beardy stuff so much, I think I’m going to change it in the book. (Originally I had it so that elves couldn’t/didn’t have facial hair, but….yeah. The scruff suits him.) Figured I’d share the love. 🙂… Read more
