Sad Sausage Dogs
So I’ve been hinting off and on for a few months about doing some extra projects on the side (aside from the writing), and here’s the skinny. As a for-fun collab project, I’m writing a web comic series with Aimo. (We’re looking at an online pub date of Spring 2012.) I’m doing this for a number of reasons – as I’ve stated before, I’ve always wanted to try my hand at this, and as a fan of comics and graphics novels in general, I’ve definitely got some stories in mind that I feel would translate really well to this particular medium. (And frankly, Aimo agreeing to collab with me is a bit of a pipe-dream come true. I adore her artistic style, so I’m very excited to see what we can create together.) Midnight Shinies
One elvish prince, coming up! (For those of you who want a sneak peek. Talivar makes a brief appearance at the end of A Brush of Darkness, but is a major character in A Sliver of Shadow). The awesome Darchala has sent me this lovely rough sketch of Talivar for his upcoming trading card. I dig the beardy stuff so much, I think I’m going to change it in the book. Word Whore Thursday: Office Space
I’m over at Word-Whores today talking a little bit about where I do my writing. (Including a wretchedly awful shot of a very messy desk.) *ahem* Otherwise, I’m rushing around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get all the last minute stuff packed for the con tomorrow in Philly (or I will be once I bug out of work in a little bit.) I’ll admit I’m a little freaked out since tomorrow will be my first actual set of panels. (Popping the panel cherry, yo!) I assume all will be well, but hopefully I won’t say anything too silly. (Though I suppose that’s always a delightful risk, eh?) Should be fun, either way. Swag the Dog
Okay – only a few weeks left until convention season starts, but I wanted to show off one of the new items I’ll be handing out (starting at Romantic Times): Brush of Darkness trading cards! Apparently these are the new cool things to have, and I had a custom set of four designed by the marvelous Darchala last week. 🙂 I’m still working on the backs, which should include names and quotes and all that fun stuff, but hopefully I’ll have them off to the printer this week. (Got a favorite character quote? Let me know!) The cards are small – only 2.5. x 3.5 inches, so we wanted to keep the designs simple. Portraits seemed like the thing to do – and obviously we’ve got Abby, Ion, Phin and Melanie to start. I’ll add to these as I can, but I have to order them in sets of 500…
