Apologies for the lateness of this post. These painkillers are kicking my ass and the most I can do is just sort of smile in a stupor. And that was compounded today by a migraine and trying to write up cognizant guest blog posts for later on this week, so…yeah. Anyway, I was over at Word-Whores today talking about Celebrity crushes. All About a Freckle

I could talk about my nerve burning procedure today…but I won’t. Though apparently it will take a few weeks to really work (and it concerns me that as soon as I was done the doc asked me what pain meds I had at home and then prescribed me something slightly less powerful than morphine. So when I’m high later, you all know why.) Whatever. I’m self medicating with a bag of Reese’s Pieces until the lidocaine wears off and then we’ll see what’s what. Annnyway, today’s post is about a freckle. Not that I’m big on Valentine’s Day posts, but ms Lucy seems to have a lot of little boyfriends in Kindergarten. Only she came home yesterday and told me one of them didn’t like her anymore because she had a freckle on her neck. It’s a cute freckle, by the way. No, I don’t know what’s going on in this gif here, but I find it oddly compelling. Understand that I’m feeling a tad gleeful at finally getting some back end code for the Sad Sausage Dogs tester site to work. It’s the small things, really – and I haven’t done any real web design/coding on a regular basis in quite a while, but I was up until about 2 last night working on it. And the problem is, I couldn’t get part of it working, and even though I was so tired I was staring at the code cross-eyed, my brain wouldn’t shut down. So I go to bed and all I’m seeing is potential hacks and workarounds and things to try. On one level, I sorta dig it – it’s like a puzzle and if I just keep moving the pieces around, sooner or later I’ll make it fit.… Read more

Ideas and Things…

With the release day of A Sliver of Shadow not too far off in the future, I’ve been playing around with what to do for unique giveaways. (Aside from book copies and trading cards and the like). One of the things I was thinking about doing was giving away a custom commission by Aimo for a BoD or SoS sketchcard. Could be pretty much any scene from the books you wanted.  (Within artist limitations, of course.) You can see a few others she’s done for me here if you want to get an idea of what I mean. So, guess I”m trying to see if people would be open to that idea, and what sorts of scenes/characters they’d want to see. (Anything with Ion, Abby, Mel or Phin is easy enough. If you’re wanting a different character, I’d actually be paying a little more for character design, but that’s okay… Read more
