Monkey See, Monkey Do…

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , , | 2 Comments
I seem to recall a few posts back something something resolutions, gonna blog more and be more socially involved and I bought this fancy new scheduler and more organization and more…IDK adulting. Or something. Well, I guess I’m not much good at it, best intentions and all that. Not that I’ve been sitting around doing nothing, mind. I just haven’t been particularly good about talking about it. The fall out with the mice from the last post or so was…extreme. I’ve been dealing with contractors the last several months, involving the rebuild of two rooms, a bathroom remodel, hot water heater replacement, and some electrical issues which we finally tracked down to 1) charred(!) wires near the hot water heater and 2) a bad wire out in the yard connected to our lamp post. But all is compete and done and while we still have a number of things to… Read more

Catching Up

I turned in the draft for Magpie’s Fall today – which is the second book in the upcoming IronHeart Chronicles. And by “turning in” I mean I handed my editor what is one of the dirtiest drafts of my entire writing career. Doing the indie-book thing is definitely interesting as far as coming up with deadlines and forcing myself to stick with them. Part of it is driven by whatever living schedule I have, but a lot of it is financial too. Let’s just say self-pubbing is a *tad* more expensive than I thought it would be and leave it at that – but it also means I have to make sure I’ve got the ability to pay my editor on the schedule we’ve decided on. (And fitting into HER schedule as well – I can’t just let things slip more than a day or two or it sets everything… Read more

Bits and Bobs and Brands…

Welp. Lots of things to talk about today – first things first, I finally did the proper sort of author thing and set up an official newsletter. I realize I haven’t been blogging much here, but every time I think about it, I stop because I always end up losing a few followers whenever I don’t talk about books or writing  or whatever, so to make things easier, especially with my indie-pub series coming out in the next couple of months, I figured a newsletter would be the thing to do. As in, you just want book info and writing stuff/webcomic stuff/cover reveals, whatever – go sign up for the newsletter. And that’s what you’ll get. (I’m still trying to figure out how MailChimp works, so it might be a tad buggy until that’s settled…) Sign up on the sidebar, or just go to the newsletter page and do it there.… Read more

Softly Chaotic

I’m baking cookies today. The chocolate chip sort. It’s Spring Break, the kids are bored, and I had dipped into some rather dark places last night, so…baking. Not that I’ll probably eat any – I’ve been on a new sort of diet over the last 2 or 3 weeks. I hesitate to call it a diet, per se, since it really is more about changing the eating habits. Not that I’m particularly heartbroken about losing nearly ten pounds so far – I’ve got a lot more to go, but a slow roll off is healthier than a fast one. These last few weeks have been hard – it’s sort of an anti-inflammatory diet in that for the first month there’s no caffeine, no sugar, no carbs and no dairy. The idea here is that a lot of people are actually allergic to these things and don’t really know, so going… Read more

Distractions

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , , | Leave a comment
Well, I haven’t updated in a while. There’s always reasons, I suppose – some are health related, some are holiday related, some are writing related. (And*cough*Dragon Age Inquisition*cough* 1st playthrough was over 130 hours who me?*cough*I romanced the bald egg elf because of course I did*cough* I regret nothing.) That and the office job has been kicking my ass fairly regularly. I used to blog during my lunch hour, but office security has been tightening up as far as online stuff goes – I can’t log into certain IM clients anymore, Sad Sausage Dogs was actually listed as a pr0n site (hello? it’s my web comic?)…and access to this site is also restricted. Oddly enough, I can get to it and I can attempt to create a post – but upon posting, it wigs out and says the site is untrusted and therefore, no. And then I lose everything I’ve written.… Read more
