Mini Recap

Airport delays suck. And yet, 3 hours later, here I sit. I was supposed to get into Philly at 10:40 tonight, but now we’re looking at 1 AM. So, guess I’ll blog about Vegas. Running commentary to follow: Day 1: Up for 23 hours straight. Got up at 4:45 AM to get to the airport – got to Vegas at 9:00 (Vegas time). Hit the tables, ate breakfast, took a shower, sorta tried to nap, ate a massive lunch at Maggiano’s, went shopping, went to see Wayne Brady at 9 PM, met AK and Dan at 11 PM, sat at the bar until midnight, went to bed a 1 AM. (Vegas time. Philly time was 3 AM, so yeah – about 23 hours. Idiot.) Day 2: Huge breakfast at the buffet. Went to see the Bodies exhibit at the Luxor. And while there’s a part of me that felt it…

The Mermaid’s Rose

I don’t know what kind of roses these are. They grow outside the window of one of the bedrooms at the beach house. For the most part, we let the bush grow wild, only cutting it back when it started getting *really* obnoxious. Otherwise, we just left it alone. Sometimes my mom would take cuttings and put them in a jar in the kitchen, and once a friend and I attempted to make some kind of rose perfume with the petals. (Being about ten and having no idea how to do it, we only ended up with vaguely rose- scented water, but I suppose that was good enough for us.) When I was twelve, I figured out the roses floated. Ever the fanciful child, I plucked them, one at a time, and walked down to the bay and dropped them into the sea. They would get picked up by the…

New World Gypsies?

Mr Myn was telling me about this site after stumbling across an article – > https://www.airbnb.com/. I really like the concept, even though there’s a small part of me that’s not sure I’d be willing to do it (mostly due to visions of ending up in the house of a serial killer – though I suppose that works both ways. LOL.) However, if I were single and either backpacking around Europe or just the traveling sort on a budget, I think AirBnB would be an awesome alternative. Given today’s ability to pick up wifi just about anywhere, I’d imagine one could be in a bus terminal in France and attempt to make reservations in Spain for the next day. (Of course, each house has its own rules as far as what you get for the price and how flexible cancellations are,) but really, the concept of being able to rent…

Updates and such.

Well, it’s not much of an update, really. I’ve seem to have taken to writing my blogs in my head again (whether in the shower or driving to work or folding laundry or whatever.) Not sure if it’s the effort of trying to organize my thoughts that triggers the mental acrobats, but what’s interesting it that once I’ve done it, I no longer seem to need to write it down here. Go figure. (It’s too bad, really -because I’ve “written” some pretty deep and interesting stuff that way. LOL). I would like to put up some specific posts here in a bit, but I’ve got a lot of pictures and I need to figure out how to organize them. Still, most of the last few weeks was spent prepping for The Gathering over at Nationals (i.e the PRISM awards from FF&P). I was in charge of coming up with the…
