David Garrett…hellooooo?

Not sure where I stumbled across this guy, but I wish I’d found him sooner. Hooo. Haven’t updated in a while, but I hope to in a bit…life has been horribly complicated over the last week, but watching this has definitely improved my mood tonight. (And I bought his album off of iTunes, so there).…

Raining and Pouring
It’s the little things that add up sometimes, I think. Lucy has been running a temp of about 104 for a few days now (and we just got back from the doc’s – all tests thus far are negative for strep, flu, etc, so we’re assuming it’s just a virus at this point). I stayed home with her yesterday, mostly curled up on the couch with her, watching Noggina and eating soup. A fairly quiet day, punctuated only by the fact that the AC decided to die at 5 minutes after 6. Guess when the HVAC company closes? Yes, that would be 6 pm, thanks for playing. *grumble* We ended up calling a 24 hour place and for the low, low price of $400 and several hours of waiting, it was fixed. And truthfully, had it just been the AC busted, I would have had us suck it up until…

Lonely Magnolia
I have a strange little magnolia tree in my backyard. In all the time I’ve lived there, it’s never really blossomed right…and it’s rather sporadic when it does. The flowers are magnificent when they do come out, though. I noticed Saturday morning that we had just a single blossom hanging out there, so I ran out to take a picture. You can see my finger in the lower part (holding down the branch), to give you a sense of scale. It’s probably bigger than my head, honestly. If the tree produced them on a regular basis, I’d probably put some in a bowl (floating or something artsy like that), but it seems kind of mean to me to remove the sole fruit of its labors for the sake of vanity.…

Smile?

It’s been said that the utter paucity of my pearly whites on display is but crankiness on my part. Truthfully, such is the brilliance of my smile that, should I deign to reveal it, the wattage would punch a hole in the space-time continuum. And while that has led to the loss of lacy unmentionables and even breakfast in bed on occasion, I’ve no desire to change the price of tea in China today. However, if one were looking at me just so, one might see the barest twitch of my upper lip, or the corners of my mouth curve into the outer spiral of a chambered nautilus, pink and trembling with infinite possibility.…

Breaking Up With a Song

What is it about teenagers and break up tapes? All through high school, I remember watching my friends go through the usual angst of mating and dating and dumping and pregnancy scares and all that fun stuff. I didn’t actually get a chance to partake of such things until later in high school (senior year in fact). Ah, such the wallflower, I. But in any case, one of the consistent things about it was the breakup tape. Gender didn’t seem to play much of a role here – both guys and girls that I knew would make them (although I think boys made more of them than girls. Maybe that’s because they’re not as good with their feelings?) Still, I have to wonder at it. Do you put hateful songs? Fun songs? Songs that make you remember your last dance together? I myself, have only been guilty of such an…
