Getting ready…

So I sent my first few requests to the agents I pitched to. It’s just the standard 1st 3 chapters plus a synopsis, so nothing major there. Of course this was compounded by the fact that Word 2007 decided to start eating my files. Including my synopsis and part of my master word file. And yes, I back things up. Frequently – but for some reason, anything that I had had open as a .docx and resaved as a .doc to send to someone else got corrupted. Definitely something to do with the XML tables, and I could not recover them. I was *not* happy, but thankfully some of my beta readers had the content I needed and I’m back on board. And completely paranoid. I’ve resaved all the .docx files into .docs and saved them in multiple places. I may even upload them to google docs one of these… Read more

It’s Friday.

…and thank God/ess for that. Honestly. I had a point to make but it seems to have dribbled away between one breath and the next, so no crazy rantings today. Just silence. *OOOOOMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmm…..* Word count is creeping up. Pop-pop is dropping by tomorrow and will hopefully take the kids off my hands for a few hours so I can get some more writing done. Getting closer to the end, I suppose – which kind of freaks me out, but in a good way. Now if I can just learn to make the day last longer than 24 hours or sleep less I think I’ll be ok. Of course I realize that the above paragraph sounds like all I want to do is dump my kids and run, and that’s not true at all – just trying to meet my deadlines and such. Random Weekly Update

I’m not much good at doing weekly updates, but felt like one today. I have not gotten much writing down this week – about 2800 words, all told – which is lousy by my current standards, but I did manage to at least edit my first two chapters for SotI and barf up a 3 page synopsis. (Special thanks and hugs to Jeffe, Kendris, AK, La-Tessa and JET for being my sounding board the last few weeks. I’m sure I drove you all crazy but it is sooo very much appreciated! And all those lovely people on Facebook for giving me encouragement too.) The point behind the editing was to prep up for a contest entry. I’m not really all that fond of contests, but I thought it might be good practice as far as synopsis writing goes. I know I need to learn the finer points of that, and… Read more
