Ideas and Things…

Posted in aimo, blog, giveaway, guest post, sketchcards | 3 Comments
With the release day of A Sliver of Shadow not too far off in the future, I’ve been playing around with what to do for unique giveaways. (Aside from book copies and trading cards and the like). One of the things I was thinking about doing was giving away a custom commission by Aimo for a BoD or SoS sketchcard. Could be pretty much any scene from the books you wanted.  (Within artist limitations, of course.) You can see a few others she’s done for me here if you want to get an idea of what I mean. So, guess I”m trying to see if people would be open to that idea, and what sorts of scenes/characters they’d want to see. (Anything with Ion, Abby, Mel or Phin is easy enough. If you’re wanting a different character, I’d actually be paying a little more for character design, but that’s okay… Read more

Word Whore Thursday

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , | Leave a comment
I’m over at Word Whores for my regularly scheduled post – today it’s about favorite TV shows. Stop on by for a warped look at my childhood favs (lots of Marty & Krofft in there, *ahem*) Aside from that, I’ve got an author interview over at Between Dreams and Reality. And Night Owl Reviews was kind enough to give A Sliver of Shadow 4.5 stars and made it a top pick! Also, here’s a little preview image of a rough look at the Fox & Willow cover art (which will be updated when we go live, but I really dig the design of it.) I’m cranking through a rather simple website design and I’m hoping to go live with that in the next few weeks so that we’ve got an actual landing pad for Sad Sausage Dogs. *wipes brow* Who needs sleep?… Read more

Mail Run

Posted in blog, rambling, sick, updates | 2 Comments
Just a heads up that since I’ve finally gotten my set of SoS books in, I’ll be sending some of those out later this week. I’ve got a few contest winners who have been waiting so very patiently (back when I thought I would have ARCs to give away…and then I didn’t. >_<). In the meantime, I apologize in advance  for the upcoming lack of quality blog posts. Not that my blog is really all that quality anyway, but since I’ve started writing the posts for the guest blog circuit, it’s hard for me to continue wanting to talk about myself all the time. (Surprise, right? It’s all about ME!) Plus, hey, Connor has strep. Again. And I’m feeling a bit like I’ve smacked headfirst into a wall myself. Which is really irritating because I have THINGS to do. Cotton head and burning eyes are about the last thing I… Read more

The Buzzing of Bees

Posted in blog, overload, social networking, tell me what's ahappening..., what's the buzz | 1 Comment
I was thinking the other day about the whole social networking thing – and yes, I did post a bit about the follower/not following issue a few weeks ago. (And it apparently hit a nerve because I had quite a few comments, so clearly it’s something that affects a lot of people.) But I took a look this morning at who I’m following this morning. Over 1700 people on Twitter. 745 friends on Facebook. Over 300 on Tumblr. I’ve sorta given up on Google Plus, but these numbers don’t include RSS feeds or blogs or  GetGlue or LinkedIn or FourSquare or the million mailing lists I’m on or any of those other places that I’ve somehow gotten ensnared with. And I guess it sort of rolls back to the “author needing to build a platform” thing. We follow some people because we find them interesting, or maybe hope for a… Read more

Small Bites

Posted in blog, no sleep 'til brooklyn, snore | Leave a comment
Such as they are. I had a fairly busy weekend. None of it had anything to do with writing, which was a first for me in quite a while. (And let’s just say part of the weekend was spent partying like a rock star. With rock stars. And leave it at that, eh?) But, I’m clearly getting old because staying out as late as I did caught up to me in spades the next few days – although it’s more than that too. I’m still having tremendous difficulty falling asleep – my head is just too jazzed up with ideas, but the downside is that I’m often too tired to implement them. It’s becoming a bit of a circle pattern that I don’t like, because no matter how early I go to bed – I still wake up feeling like my head is stuffed with cotton. Today, for example –… Read more
