Yes. It’s the Breast Milk Baby doll. On one hand I applaud it. On the other? I’m sorta disturbed.…

The First Ten Thousand
There’s something about starting a new book that freaks me out. For all that I’m a bit of a clutter-cat in general, I sometimes have a hard time actually putting those first words on the page. Maybe it’s that internal fear that I will screw it up before it even begins. Something about all that potential. It’s hard for me to commit to those feckless words. Maybe I don’t trust my own in instincts as well as I should. But still, eventually I take the plunge and go for it. I have an outline for Book 3 that I had to write, but I haven’t looked at it since I handed it in to my editor. I don’t like working off of anything if I can help it. I’ve got a vague idea of where I’m going and that usually works for me when I’m starting out. In some ways…

Shoe Whore

Been a while since I’ve bought any new shoes. I mean, with all the back issues I’ve had it seems a bit cruel to myself to buy something I can’t wear. But today was hopefully my last prolotherapy treatment (though I may be heading toward doing something with my knees next – I’ve got to get some x-rays for starters. Whee.) I needed something nice for under my faery costume next week anyway, so these seemed like they might work. I’ll manage for a short while in them at least, but my faery costume is huge and long and I’m not likely to dance it in. (I’ll prance about for a little while and then change out of it and into something a bit more practical.) Of course Lucy wasn’t about to be outdone, so I snagged her a pair of these lovely little pink things. –> The shoe-whore gene…

Virtual Playground
I was definitely something of an introvert growing up. I was shy. I was a nerd. I was socially awkward. I was bullied. Probably very little surprise there. I think a lot of writers are. Probably readers, as well. We read and write stories to escape, among other things. I’ve come out of the shell quite a bit, but I’m still not always great with people in real life. I can say the wrong thing at the wrong time. I’m still a nerd. But those reasons are probably why I enjoy social networking so much. Blogging, tweeting, facebooking. Sure it can be intrusive at times, but as a medium of communication it has a fair number of advantages…and disadvantages. Don’t get me wrong. I really enjoy Twitter quite a bit. I love being able to make snap connections with people. I love how information can travel almost instantly. If something…

Sunday Night WTFkry

I can’t decide if this is WTFkery or not. On one hand, I can’t imagine taking an 8 year old into A&F to do any sort of shopping, but then, I can’t actually imagine shopping at A&F period. Still, I guess the idea of actually padding a string bikini for anyone under the age of 14 seems a little…sad. Sure, I get that a lining would definitely be appropriate, but padded? Eh. Over-sexualization of children or overreaction? I *will* say there is some WTFkery going on at the A&F site, though. This is the actual product link now. However, someone at racked.com managed to snag a screen shot of the thing a little while ago, and it was clearly listed as a “push up”. That does seem a bit excessive, if you ask me.…
