RT 2011, Day the First

Okay – no strippers yet, but obviously I didn’t post yesterday, mainly because I was on a plane for most of it. By the time I got to LAX last night it was 8PM in LA time…but 11 PM by my clock. And I was starving. And I met some friends at the bar. So I didn’t go to bed until 1 AM, LA time. Yes, that means I went to bed until about 4 AM, my time. Confused yet? Packing Madness & Informal Title Contest

No. Actually, I’m NOT done packing. Yes. I *am* freaking out. Most of the stuff is laid out and ready to go though – I just need to get things in place.  (And grrr – my new video card appears to have crapped the bed. Always, always things just fall apart as soon as I’m trying to get ready to leave.) But in the meantime, I’ve been asked to come up with some title suggestion for BoD 2, and most likely the series name. Now, I’m going to be brainstorming on the plane tomorrow, but I thought I’d open this up to suggestions.  My favorite gets an ARC of book 2, whenever it comes out, as a prize. (I can’t guarantee it will actually *be* the title – publisher gets the last word on that, but I always like to hear other opinions.) As a side note, Comb of Darkness… Read more

Packing

So. Yeah. I hate packing. *Hate* it. I know I’m going to forget something and as soon as I remember one thing, I drop whatever I’m doing and run off to find it…and then I forget whatever I was originally doing in the first place. Tonight, however, I cannot find my sock. Not just any sock. My thigh high black and white striped sock to wear with my vampire/steampunk/I don’t have anything else to wear that night costume. Found one. In my closet from where I left it when I unpacked from RWA over the summer. But the second one? Might as well be in on safari or something for all the luck I’ve had. I’m taking a little break right now, but I imagine I’ll be back up there in a few and ripping apart the closet for a *third* time tonight. Good news? I found my domo kun… Read more

Hello Kitty MailBag!

You know what’s awesome? Getting Hello Kitty mail. A lot of Hello Kitty mail. Twice this week, in fact. Thanks to my German gal-pal Moni for the pen and pencil (and I’ll be bringing the pen for the book signing this week). And crazy-awesomesauce thanks to Marsha for all the fabulous nail polish and accessories! Lucy has been begging to use the hot pink, so I suspect I’ll be making her toes all pretty tomorrow. I’ve got an appointment at the spa anyway, so I may just have to borrow those Hello Kitty flipflops for the occasion. 😉… Read more

Word Whore Thursday: Writing Without Rituals

In most RPG games, you’re stuck picking an alignment of some sort – it helps the game figure out how you’re going to play and will often influence the outcomes of certain situations. It comes as very little surprise to me that I often roll up someone in the chaotic good/chaotic neutral arena, since chaos is pretty much what sums up my “real” life.
