Beastly

My Blu-ray copy of Beauty and the Beast showed up in the mail yesterday .We actually already own a copy of the DVD, but it’s several years old, wasn’t in widescreen and tended to appear pretty pixelated on the newer tv. So…Blu-ray it was. It has been probably been at least ten years or more since I really saw it, and it’s actually a little bittersweet to watch it now. Lots of memories dredged up there, for myriad reasons – high school stuff, Germany stuff (I had bought the soundtrack and listened to it quite a bit during a trip to Europe), taking my mother to the theatre to see it, etc. Even though the computer animation in parts is looking a bit dated, it’s still rather stunning, especially in Hi-Def. You Give Me Fever

So as of tomorrow, Connor will have been running a temp for well over three days. The Ibuprofen seems to damp it down temporarily, but as soon as it wears off, his temp soars back up to about 103 F. If things don’t look any different by tomorrow I’ll be taking him back to the doc’s, ’cause clearly *something* is off. Hell, the only reason I took him on Monday to begin with was because I was freaked out that it might be meningitis, since he’s been complaining about his neck. His temp wasn’t that high on Sunday, but I figured I’d take him in anyway. And then of course, I felt like the world’s biggest ass since during the doctor’s conversation with him, it came to light that while out with mr myn on Saturday, Connor had played inside one of those giant inflatable balls and whacked his neck on… Read more

Crap Cartoon of the Day

It’s not much fun hanging at home with a sick kid. Connor’s been running a steady temp since yesterday (and it’s already starting to creep up again, so I suspect we’ll be home again tomorrow.) However, one of the “perks” of being home with him is the constant drone of the TV. And when he’s that miserable, I don’t mind if he wants to play XBox until his brains fall out. (Hell, if it’s Lego StarWars or Harry Potter, I’m all over it.) Usually, though, it’s a steady stream of Spongebob, Transformers, Star Wars and whatever the movie of the week is. (How to Train Your Dragon is on heavy rotation at the moment.) This afternoon, though, we managed to catch a few utterly craptastic episodes of Z Evo 3, or whatever it is. What Happens If The Words Run Out?

Okay – I don’t actually feel this way tonight. I just thought the picture was funny. For the most part, things seem to be looking up. My father-in-law now has nearly 24 hour care set up at his house and that should help with the day-to-day stuff. I’ve been able to turn back to my writing this week, finally rounding past the 90k mark. Which is great, except I’m just now heading into the start of the climax of the thing…but the draft version is becoming more complex as I go and I think it’s going to take a bit more than 10k to finish it up. (Probably closer to 15 to 20k). I suspect I’ll be chopping some of that out during editing, but for now I’ll run with it. There’s more than enough plot stuff to carry me into book 3, so that makes me feel pretty good… Read more
