Word Whore ~ Fox and Willow Thursday: Con News

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , | 2 Comments
Today has been a bit of a busy day for a number of reasons. First up, I’m over at Word Whores, talking a little bit about promo. (And specifically about something called Shindig. Keep an eye out about that because I’m going to host some sort of Trace of Moonlight online party or something with it as we get closer to release date.  Everyone’s invited, yo.) And of course,  a new page of Fox and Willow is up, so go check that out. But the big news is that I got on a panel for NYCC. I don’t know what sort of small animals my editor had to sacrifice in order to make this happen, but I’m eternally grateful. It’s a UF panel about mixing up mythology (I’ll throw some more details up as we get closer to it), but it will include fellow Reluctant Adults Kevin Hearne and Anton Strout, as well… Read more

Doing What We Do

It’s always interesting coming back from a con. There’s the usual physical exhaustion – eating and drinking in excess, staying up too late, socializing, panels, etc, etc. (I did no dancing this time, alas. I’d forgotten some of my meds for my back and I was already super stiff by the 3rd day. Dancing would have crippled me completely.) But as to the rest of it? Yes, I had a good time. It always takes me a day or so to get into “con” mode – my first panel is nearly always a bit of a stressful thing for me – same way this time. I think I came across as a bit stiff, but once I manage to settle in, the rest of them go okay.  (AAD is a bit different than other cons because there aren’t assigned moderators – this can be good, but it can also be… Read more

Fox in a Box

Posted in blog | Tagged , , | 4 Comments
So if you’ve been following me on Twitter or Facebook at all, you’ve probably seen me talk about the fox living on my deck. In the insulated cat house, no less. Only the thing is? I don’t have one fox. I apparently have two. Both with mange. The pictures I have are of the first fox (whom I have dubbed Foxy Lady). To be honest, except for this one day I haven’t seen her again. She popped up on the deck to eat up some leftover cat food the cats hadn’t eaten. And then she jumped into the flower box on the deck rail (behind the grill) and sunbathed and scratched for about 2 hours. So the next night when I startled something out of the cat house right next to the grill, I assumed it was her since I didn’t get a good look at whatever ran off.  But… Read more

Word-Whore ~ Fox and Willow Thursday

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , | Leave a comment
Just a quick note to mention I’m over at Word Whores today – this week the theme has been about women writers in Sci-Fi and the “boy’s club” mentality that continues to be a part of the fandoms. It’s been a really great week so far, full of excellent points and discussion, so it’s definitely worth a read. Fox & Willow also updates today, and on a side note, I finally finished the rough draft for a short story for an upcoming anthology. (Of course it’s 1000 words too long, but that’s what editing and polishing is for. Hopefully I can whittle that down some. Gonna take a few days off of it to get some web design side jobs done and then tackle it again next week. Maybe during travel time for AAD.)… Read more

Fox & Willow Swag

Posted in blog | Tagged , | Leave a comment
Just wanted to give a shout out to Robin over at Robin Ludwig Design for the lovely postcards she helped design. 🙂 I’ve been wanted to create a little F&W swag for a while now and these larger sized 5 x 7 postcards are just beautiful.  (Look for them at AAD next week!!!) I also want to thank Robin for her help with the photobooth design as well (explained in the last blog post). Haven’t gotten those yet, but I can’t wait  to see them when they get in. For all the talk of whether swag works or not, it really helps to have pros in your corner making it look the best that it can. And of course, new Fox & Willow up today, as per usual.… Read more
