Giveaways and Such

Posted in blog | Tagged , , | 2 Comments
I’m over at Book Faery today talking a little bit about secondary characters and giving away a signed copy of A Brush of Darkness! (Open to international winners as well.) Also – stay tuned for tomorrow’s blog post – I’ll have links to additional book giveaways (including winner’s choice of BoD or the sequel, A Sliver of Shadow) and a live chat with me tomorrow night. On a completely random note? I’d like to give a shout out to the awesome Jeffe Kennedy for sending me the most epic food ever made: Bask in it, ladies and gents. BACON CARAMEL TOFFEE.… Read more

Rambling…and Title Contest Winner

Posted in blog | Tagged , | 1 Comment
Obviously I didn’t blog yesterday, but it was Easter and we had family stuff to do. Plus, I’m starting to get a little more selfish with my time (if that’s even remotely possible.) But I am trying to cut myself a bit of a break from time to time and I decided to let yesterday slip through the cracks. And really, on a good note, I was able to rebuild that 4k I hacked from last week and get some additional words in…and now I’m all caught up to where I was (and hopefully the book is headed in a better direction. *I* feel a little better about it anyway, and that’s probably all that matters.) Hmmm. Maybe I *should* be blogging less? Otherwise, things are starting to get back on their normal schedules. The kids finally made it back to school/daycare today and it’s a bit of a relief… Read more

Bitten By Books Smackdown!

Posted in blog | Tagged , | 1 Comment
Just a heads up that A Brush of Darkness is a finalist in the BBB Smackdown. More details about it here, but go on over and throw your hat in the ring to defend the book of your choice. (And you don’t even have to choose mine – there are so many good one out there!) As an aside note, I know I haven’t updated much in the last week or so. Obviously there’s a lot I want to talk about as far as last week’s RT Convention went, and I do have plans to write up a recap, but about an hour after my plane landed on Sunday night, my father-in-law had a sudden stroke and passed away Monday morning. So…things have been a bit sad and hectic around the house the last few days. I’m hoping to have things back on a more normal track by next week,… Read more

Packing Madness & Informal Title Contest

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , | 7 Comments
No. Actually, I’m NOT done packing. Yes. I *am* freaking out. Most of the stuff is laid out and ready to go though – I just need to get things in place.  (And grrr – my new video card appears to have crapped the bed. Always, always things just fall apart as soon as I’m trying to get ready to leave.) But in the meantime, I’ve been asked to come up with some title suggestion for BoD 2, and most likely the series name. Now, I’m going to be brainstorming on the plane tomorrow, but I thought I’d open this up to suggestions.  My favorite gets an ARC of book 2, whenever it comes out, as a prize. (I can’t guarantee it will actually *be* the title – publisher gets the last word on that, but I always like to hear other opinions.) As a side note, Comb of Darkness… Read more

Word Whore Thursday: The Methods to My Madness

Posted in blog | Tagged , , | Leave a comment
I’m over at Word Whores today talking a little bit about my writing process – the whole pantster vs plotter argument, though I’m not really sure I have much of a method these days. (Aside from “Get the damn book written.” but that probably goes without saying…) Also, Pocket After Dark is running a contest to win seven signed books (including Brush of Darkness). All you have to do is comment about which cross-over you’d like to see between your favorite characters from whatever series you like. Anyone up for an Abby and Bones pairing? LOL In other bits of random news, I do have tentative release dates for the sequels to Brush of Darkness – which will be March 2012 and October 2012, respectively. No titles or anything yet, but I’ll obviously post more more when I know it. (And yes, I have to get an FAQ up on… Read more
