SketchCards!

Posted in blog | Tagged , , | 6 Comments
So one of the things I’ve been working on is the possibility of getting BoD turned into a comic book/graphic novel. There’s some proposals kicking around out there, but as I’ve previously noted, publishing can be a very slow business, so it could be some time before I get any definitive yes or no. (Yeah, it really would be about the coolest damn thing ever for me. I love comics. I love manga. To see my words in this format would be so utterly brilliant I can hardly contain myself.) Anyway, even if it happens I’ll probably have very little say in the artistic side of things – but while I was working on the proposals I did want to have some concept art on hand (the last of which has come in today.) In the next few days I’ll put some of the scene sketches here on the official… Read more

Auction for LA Banks

Posted in blog | Tagged , | 2 Comments
Fellow author LA Banks is currently facing a terrible battle against adrenal cancer. You can read about the details here to find more information about ways to help or donate toward her medical expenses, which are considerable. There have also been a number of auctions set in place, where all winning bids will be donated to this cause as well. I’m involved with the   Romance Relief store and as part of my contribution I’m auctioning off a Brush of Darkness gift basket that includes: A signed copy of BoD A signed cover flat A bookmark A set of trading cards A stuffed Phineas (Beanie Baby) A custom Heart of the Dreaming necklace created by Psynde of Cemetery Cat Design An ARC of A Sliver of Shadow (the sequel to BoD – please note that I’ll only be able to send it once I’ve got them in hand) Please consider bidding on this or… Read more

Inked

So while I was at RWA in NYC last week, I finally decided to take the plunge and get my first tattoo. It’s something I’ve been kicking around for years, in fact – but I’ve never had the guts to do. Hell, I commissioned the design from Darchala about three years ago, so it’s not like it was just a completely random occurrence.  The official title is “Endless Thorn”, btw. But I sat on it. The idea of getting something so permanent is a bit daunting. Just the realization that you can’t really go back, I guess. Tattoo artists have to be amazing, if you think about it. As a writer, if I don’t like something, I can just delete it or change it…but when the canvas is another person’s skin? (Sure, it can be undone, but it’s a long and painful process.) Anyway, I decided while I was in NY… Read more

Home Again, Home Again

Posted in blog, updates | 3 Comments
There’s something really nice about being able to sleep in your own bed after being gone for two weeks. (And okay, technically I was home last Monday for the day, but I was so busy getting ready for my next trip I’m not sure it really counted.) I was so tired by the time I got home last night that I pretty much just staggered around the house and eventually crashed into oblivion. (Comes of the night before which involved 1) Getting a tattoo until 1 am. 2) Walking around Times Square for a while after that 3) Getting back to my room only to find the new neighbors awake and arguing very loudly for at least an hour 4) Roomie getting up 3 hours later to catch her flight 5) Friend texting me at 6:45 AM to ask me what I wanted to do for breakfast. >_< I did… Read more
