Brush of Darkness 3 Scene

Just ’cause I feel like posting a bit. It’s super rough. Bear with me. OOO “What was that you were saying yesterday about a Denny’s?” I sniffed at the jerky, my nose wrinkling as the scent of rotting meat hit me in the face. “I didn’t think this stuff went bad.” “It doesn’t,” Phineas whispered. “Don’t move, Abby.” I froze, the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end. I swallowed against the gag reflex as the necrotic odor grew stronger. My eyes watered as though I’d bit into an onion. Slowly, I turned my head to catch a glimpse of a bulbous, blue skinned face, set off by tiny eyes and massive pointed ears. DA Fangirl Shinies

Whee – Got some of my Dragon Age fangirling on in the mail yesterday with the arrival of my pin-up “Hotties of Thedas” calendar by jakface *and* my oh-so-classy “Rock Out With Your Hawke Out” t-shirt from Waiting4CoDot. (There’s also a lovely sketch of Fenris with a leash from jak too, but it’s a bit faded out here in the photo – she’s got it up somewhere on her tumblr tho, so there you go.) I only wish the shirt had arrived sooner so I could have worn it at my book signing on Saturday. What with all the peen talk, it would have made sense. It’s the little things, I guess, and seeing as I’m probably coming down with a killer cold, I’ll take anything that makes me laugh and feel better. Convention Mini Recap

Yay for first panel pics!  (Actually this was my second panel of the day, but it’s the only one I have pictures from, so it will have to do.) This panel was on Odd Paranormals – and was actually a lot of fun. Lots of Phineas discussion, since he’s probably the oddest thing to come out of the Brush of Darkness universe. (Amusingly, PBS was there and filming a number of the panels. Including this one. It’s entirely possible I’ll be on TV in the next few months discussion unicorn peen. Or not. I had to sign a waiver, but I don’t actually know what/how much they’re going to use.) Overall, though, the panels were a blast and  I’m very grateful that I had the opportunity to be on them. 🙂 (Incidentally, Monica Burns is awesome, and pimped my book out like mad. Huzzah!) Word Whore Thursday: Office Space

I’m over at Word-Whores today talking a little bit about where I do my writing. (Including a wretchedly awful shot of a very messy desk.) *ahem* Otherwise, I’m rushing around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get all the last minute stuff packed for the con tomorrow in Philly (or I will be once I bug out of work in a little bit.) I’ll admit I’m a little freaked out since tomorrow will be my first actual set of panels. (Popping the panel cherry, yo!)  I assume all will be well, but hopefully I won’t say anything too silly.  (Though I suppose that’s always a delightful risk, eh?) Should be fun, either way. Also, for those of you attending the book signing and may be interested, I’ll be taking names of people who might want to purchase custom BoD Sketchcards! 🙂 I’m still feeling out how… Read more
