Happy Birthday to Me

Lovely wishes from my DG-fangirl friend Renee came in the mail on Saturday. Yes it’s a button. No I’m not actually wearing it in the office, but I did post it up in my cube. It’s raised a few eyebrows. *ahem* Anyway, birthdays are always odd days for me so I don’t think on them much when they’re here – especially since I’m not doing much to celebrate it today. (Car shopping notwithstanding – think I’ll be making a purchase today, but that’s less of a Birthday thing than pure necessity.) Bleah Car Shopping

Just a short post today to reaffirm the fact that I detest car shopping with all the heat of a thousand burning suns. No, I haven’t bought anything yet. Probably will tomorrow. Was trying to talk myself into a smexy Jeep Rubicon, but the back bench seat is *really* uncomfortable for the kids (doesn’t recline at all. Okay for short trips, but I suspect longer drives would probably suck. I sat in it for all of five minutes while it was in park and my back was ready to commit seppaku within 30 seconds.) And so I will probably have to go with something a tad more family oriented after all. *sobs quietly into the corner* The picture, btw, is a bright yellow Mustang. Thursday Night WTFkery

Okay, while I get that there’s an obesity issue with kids and people in general in the US, can I just say how much I despise the concept of this self-published book? “This book is about a 14 year old girl who goes on a diet and is transformed from being extremely overweight and insecure to a normal sized girl who becomes the school soccer star. Through time, exercise and hard work, Maggie becomes more and more confident and develops a positive self image.” Okay. All well and good. You know. Except for that whole “NORMAL SIZED” thing. And the fact that it’s marketed for readers age six and up. Age. Six. Six. I want to chuck my computer out the window right now. I’m all for being active and having self-confidence, but Jesus. Word Whore Thursday: Where I Want To Live

Over at Word-Whores for my weekly blog post – this time on where I want to move back to. (Yes, that would be the beach.) Otherwise things have been fairly quiet. I’ve been out doing some test driving of cars (going to test a Jeep today). I don’t want to make any snap decisions, but I must admit I really hate to car shop – although last night was fairly amusing.
