Off to See the Wizard. And the Mermaid. And the Mouse.
So I’m off for a few days of glorious family vacation at Disney World (with a side trip to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, yo.) At the moment I’m finishing up the last of my packing and all those little things that need doing. Getting ready to go on vacation is sort of exhausting in its own way, but hopefully the payoff will be good. I try to go dark on these occasions so obviously I won’t be blogging much. (Though I’ve already written Thursday’s Word Whores post – this week is all about the seven deadly writer sins. Seeing that Thursday is Valentine’s Day, I chose to write about lust. *brow waggle*) Unfortunately, I was hoping to have a bit of a V-Day surprise for you guys all ready to go, but it’s not done. Tough Love
I’m sitting on the floor of what I’m beginning to consider my room. It’s a dangerous thought to have because Moon Children don’t own anything. And yet, here I am, hunched over a book and pretending the squiggles are supposed to make sense. The doctor’s clothes hang off my frame loosely; I’m like a scarecrow from that children’s story, wishing for brains. The scarecrows here live under the city and dine on flesh, but it doesn’t make them any smarter. “Mags?” Dr. Barrows raps me gently on the head to bring me back from my woolgathering. It’s on the tip of my tongue to mention the scarecrows, but I decide the joke will fall flat. Moon Child humor is not for the faint of heart. “This is useless. I cannot make sense of scribbles.” I turn the book so it’s upside down, but the words aren’t any…

Word Whore ~ Fox and Willow Thursday
I’ve been slacking off on the daily blogging again, for which I apologize – but it’s just been about lack of time more than anything else. Writing is happening, projects are moving along – I’ll be scarce next week since I’m heading out of town for a little family vacation and I tend to like to unplug as completely as I can for stuff like that. Plus, hey – it’s Disney World and Harry Potter – and I need all my attention on that. 😀 In the meantime, today has it’s usual F&W update, so check that out. Writer’s Tears
With a title like this, you’d probably expect a bit of authorly whining – which I’m happy to do, of course – but in reality, I’m just drawing attention to a particular brand of Irish whiskey…known as Writer’s Tears. Now, I don’t actually have a bottle of the whiskey – you can only get it in Ireland at the moment (and a few other places in Europe via email). I did try to order it online (even got my brother-in-law to try it, since his hotel has a liquor license and shipping alcohol in the mail is fairly hard to do.) But Ireland post doesn’t ship liquids of any kind right now, so I’m pretty much out of luck unless one of you fine people is going to Ireland and wants to bring me back some. (Hint, hint.) Inspiration
So if you follow me on Facebook or Tumblr at all, you probably saw me post this lovely drawing by Lucy yesterday. Yes, it’s a heart taking a poo. I don’t particularly understand her logic behind why it needs to take a dump in an outdoor toilet, but 6 year old minds are a wonderful puzzlement. Maybe it’s a statement about love. On the other hand the rest of her journal is full of stories and pictures that make me think she’s going to be a romance writer. Yes, there are pictures of ninjas – several of them, in fact, but she was very excited to share one of the stories last night involving a little boy who was bullied.
