I had a million other things I wanted to talk about today, or this week, even, but work has completely overwhelmed me. I’m barely keeping my head above water between the Exchange Migration and the ISO 20K draft work I’m doing. Throw in a kid with strep and a time change and we’ve got quite the party happening. I’m still writing – not always getting that 1000 done. Most of the time I still do, but there have been a few nights where I’ve let it go, just too mentally exhausted to even look at another computer screen. When I’m rereading the same sentence five or six times, I know it’s time to crash. So, in the meantime I decided to try editing up my first chapter again – it’s been awhile and I’m still writing the story (up to Chapter 17 now…maybe ten left? hard to say…) and sent…

Workshops

Ack! Pardon me while I scream. I accidentally signed up for two workshops this month and I’m sinking a bit. Actually that’s not entirely true. I am taking Arwen Lynch’s Hero’s Journey workshop and I’ve been finding it rather fascinating. Couldn’t find my Robin Wood tarot deck, so I went out and bought a new one. And the Mystic Fairy deck. And Buckland’s Romani deck. (That one had to be special ordered, actually, but I friggin *love* it). The workshop is nice and has allowed me to slow down and really look at just how my story is being put together – I’m really hoping to find some answers as to the backstory on a few of my characters. The other workshop is Margie Lawson’s ECE workshop, and OMG, the sheer amount of information this woman gives us is nothing short of amazing. Some people say you have to take…

This is probably going to be a TMI blog entry, so if you’re squeamish you should probably stop reading. You’ve been warned. Carry on. 🙂 I had been reading an entry on LKH’s blog earlier this week. It’s on my blog-roll somewhere to the right, so I’m not going to link to it directly. I have a love/hate thing with LKH which I’m not going to get into here, but in her blog entry she talked about not writing about what you know, but about writing on what you want to know about. I think that actually makes a lot of sense, provided you put in the research behind it – whether it’s about firearms, or how the post office works, or repairing car engines, or whatever. If you’re going to write about something, you’d better be able to back up what you say. Eventually people are going to call…

It’s just an extra pound…isn’t it?

I’ve been a bit lax on weighing myself the last while. I went on WW last year and lost a total of 28 pounds, a few pounds shy of my “goal weight.” I actually felt a little *too* thin there, so I’ve been maintaining anywhere between 127 to 130 and I’ve been pretty happy with that. However, I think I’ve gotten a little lazy – definitely eating more, not paying attention to the scale, convincing myself that ignorance really is bliss. Today I weighed about 131. 131.4, to be exact. Ok, so it’s not even remotely the end of the world. My pants still fit fine, I’m not “feeling fat”, but I have to wonder – is this how it all starts? Sure, it’s an extra pound or two and I can live with that, but what about a few weeks from now, or a few months from now? Will…

New Projects and Such

*yawns*. Holy crap, I’m tired, Batman. But I’m somewhat back on track with my WiP. I pretty much took the day off from writing yesterday, enjoyed hanging out with the family and really didn’t think much about it. Well, I had my notebook and at one point I was jotting down potential ways of working it, but that’s about it. I may have figured it out so I don’t think I’ll have to toss out *too* much of what I had written this past week. In the meantime, I decided it might not be a bad idea to have a smaller side project to play with when I get stuck like this. A one-shot, if you will. Hopefully horribly smutty with an uncomplicated plot. Or at least uncomplicated compared to the one I’m currently entrenched in. So I pulled out my trusty Mindola cards this afternoon and plotted(!) out a…
