Tricks and Treats

Just a late night update here. I wouldn’t call Halloween a bust, per se, but between the rainy damp thing going on (although it was 70 degrees out, go figure), and Connor still being sick enough that I actually had to come back to the house with him once it wasn’t overly great either. We managed to get a pretty good haul, even so. Enough so that the majority of it is going to the office with me so I can give it away, anyway. Damn diet is hard enough to stick to without a mountain of crap in the kitchen. But I have to say, I did feel a bit melancholy tonight. Maybe it was the rain. Maybe it was the fact that we didn’t get too many kids tonight, or that so many houses had their porch lights off. I seem to remember Halloween being a major deal…

This is actually from yesterday. Dan took the kids out so I could wrap Lucy’s birthday presents…looks like Old Town Manassas was having a bit of a WW II exhibition. (Or getting ready for the zombie apocalypse, not sure which…) 🙂 Honestly, it’s the Barbie sunglasses that do it for me here. LOL. ** free render to whoever can tell me what movie that’s from (w/out googling it)…

Back to Work…

…or something like it. Actually managed to work from home yesterday, and while I did have to make frequent stops to go walk around or throw on an ice pack, I seem to have managed. Although, every once in a while, I get a cramp on either side of the staples that feels like I’m being branded. Seriously, the pain is really pretty damn exquisite…and thankfully, doesn’t last too long. On the other hand, I feel a tad removed from the family. I can’t curl up on the couch with the kids or put them to bed and I’m starting to miss that. Hopefully once the staples come out, some of that will change. The concept of driving is laughable, so…

Boy-Crazy Girl Child

My nearly 3 year old is crazy. Well. Maybe not. But I’m beginning to wonder how much trouble I’m going to have with the little darling when she hits her teen years. She’s already rather interested in boys. Case in point – when she saw the David Garrett video I was watching, she asked if she could “eat him.” (erm, get in line, honey). Actually what she said was “Who is that? Can I eat him? Can I eat his sweater?” The mind boggles, I guess… During our summer vacation, we visited one of our favorite pizza joints. Food was good, as it always is, but the table next to us was being served by a young guy named Rocky. Now admittedly, Rocky was pretty damned good looking, but as soon as Lucy saw him, her mouth just dropped open. Ignoring us and the her dinner, her eyes just followed…

My internet has been horribly spotty the last few days, so rather than risk losing a big blog post, I thought I’d just upload a silly video of Lucy (taken via BB, hence the crappy image), who’s apparently been watching too much Backyardigans. Still – kind of suited for a beach vacation. 🙂…
