WTF Wednesday

I can honestly say there is probably nothing more awesome than an inflatable unicorn horn for cats. I particularly like how the box proclaims that cats love it. Cats also love scratching furniture and eviscerating small mammals.  (One of my cats used to be inherently fond of dragging my bathrobe around the house and humping the shit out of it.) Just sayin’. Reset Switch

I used to be a morning person. All through my childhood and even most of high school. I’d get up and be bright and cheerful at 6 AM and off I went.  Then college and real life hit and my hours got all gorked up. Fast forward to now and I’m a complete night owl. As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t even generally start writing until 10 PM most evenings – which has worked okay for me so far, but I’ve thrown a wrench in the works because I’ve quit soda. Which is where I got my caffeine buzz to do my late night work. (I’m still drinking tea, but a cup or two of tea is not remotely the same as the 4 to 6 can-a-day Coke Zero habit I dropped.) Propositions

I turned in a book proposal today. (To my agent, anyway – if all is well, it will go off to the editor at some point this week and then we’ll see what’s what.) I’m not getting into the specifics of the proposal yet because it’s one of those things. If I talk about it, maybe it gets jinxed. (And I’m not fond of backtracking and having to say, “Sorry, guys.”) Or hell, maybe it doesn’t get jinxed, but things just don’t work out the way I hoped. Or maybe it’s all perfect and I’ll get to make a different sort of announcement in a few months.  Here’s hoping, anyway. But it’s amazing what a relief it is to turn it in. I can start looking at some other projects while knowing I have something in the pipeline – as I’ve said before, an author is usually only as good… Read more

Word Whore ~ Fox and Willow Thursday

Doing the usual thing over at Word Whores today – talking about time management. (Ha ha, yes – we all know I can’t manage time for squat. But like I mention in the post, no matter what I do, something happens. I attempt to go to bed early (ish, for me anyway) last night…and the neighbor’s car alarm goes off. For two hours. On for five or ten minutes…off for a few. On for ten minutes. Rinse and repeat. Until the DH finally gave up and tracked down the car at 2 AM and called the cops to have them deal with it.
