The Beginning of the End

I don’t usually make resolutions. They look good on paper, but in all honestly unless you make that mental connection to just do it, then the words don’t really mean anything. Jeffe’s post on sea change had me thinking on that a bit today. The vagueness of so many goals out there just lends itself to failure. (i.e. I resolve to lose weight doesn’t mean anything. Is that a pound? or 50 pounds? Better to have a tangible goal, I think, than just a general one.) Same with writing. I see a lot of that this time of year. I resolve to write a book. Finish a book. Edit three books. Etc. Those are still too vague and too easy to let slip away under the enormity of it all. A better resolution might be to say, “I’m going to write 1000 words a day.” or “Twenty pages a week.”… Read more

Bear Head

Funny thing about blogs. People read them. Like my dad – who ran into my post about Bear Head. As a bit of a lovely Christmas surprise, he actually found the bear head ornament and gave it to me. 🙂 So here it is, in all its hot-glue-gun glory, nestled among the bottles of vodka and appletini mix my aunt gave me. I’m not really sure why I put it there for the picture, but perhaps my subconscious is suggesting that to understand the pure awesome zen of a decapitated bear head ornament, one must essentially be soused. I shall have to ponder that this evening. (Whilst stuffing my face with my home-made meringues. Thanks to @KAKrantz for stopping by today to help me make them! ARC Awesomesauce

So. Um. Awesomesauce agent Suzie Townsend sent me the ARC for Twilight’s Dawn. Which I received about 5 hours ago. And which I have just finished. Not going to review it, but…yeah. Monday Evening Updates

So we missed the epic snow here in Northern Virginia for some reason yesterday. (Fine with me honestly – it’s been plenty chilly here with the wind as it is. I’m just as happy to avoid slogging through two feet of snow if I don’t have to.) I didn’t blog yesterday either, mostly because I was feeling lazy and the idea of slumming around in my monkey pjs was a lot nicer than doing anything in front of the computer. Plus I had family in town and the kids were in their post-Christmas funk. (I’m soooo borrred. There’s NOTHING to doooooo…) But I’m back to the grind today. Working from home all this week (which means hanging in my monkey pjs in front of the keyboard after all.), but I’m trying to catch up on all those interview questions which are due very shortly.
