Meh.

Posted in blog, dragon age, sick, updates | Leave a comment
Clearly I didn’t blog today. Partially this is because Dragon Age 2 has taken over my world at night. Late nights make me bleary and unable to put thoughts together. *ahem* (And by the way? Trying to rivalmance emo elf-warrior Fenris and having the romance portion not go through correctly? Sucks. He turned against me and I had to kill him. *sobs* Also, btw? The whole “I have no memory, but I have all these lyrium tattoos all over my body that help me kill and I didn’t ask for them” routine? Um. Wolverine much?) But mostly because yes, yours truly is now being treated for strep. Bleah. So. Yeah. Massive headache at the moment and all that other fun stuff, but I got my meds and some fruit juice and I suspect I’m off to go pass out for a while. *cough* Assuming I don’t roll up a mage… Read more

Keys to the Kingdom

It wasn’t until last week when I was trying to get into my mother-in-law’s house with extra food that I realized none of my keys worked on her front door. Awkward, especially given I’d told her I had one and sure, I’d be happy to get there early to help set things up before people started showing up after the funeral. *shrugs* Story of my life, I suppose – but in some ways, I think keys really are some of the best examples of people’s life details. You can see what types of cars I drive, for example. You can see that I obviously shop at Giant. And CVS. And I’ve got a nice little shout out to David Garrett there too, simply because I’m a dork. But then it gets a bit puzzling. I’ve got my housekey. My PO Box key. And…I have NO friggin clue about the rest… Read more

Made of Scars

Someone shared this on my gaming site a few weeks ago, and since I’m rather heavily invested in my latest Dragon Age 2 run-through, I thought it was rather apropo. Poor Anders. Plus, I *really* dig the music.  (It’s Orchard of Mines by Globus, btw, in case you are interested…and essentially what they’ve done is set lyrics/reworked a bit of trailer music by Immediate Music, but it’s still pretty epic.)… Read more

Working on It

Posted in blog, Lucy, sick, updates | Leave a comment
So to speak. I’m getting a little tired of constantly reporting on the negatives. Intentions being what they are, I had so many plans for catching up on the writing this weekend. And I did, a little. Still have a little more to do today to finish my daily wordcount. (Though right now I’m horrendously distracted by the premiere of A Game of Thrones on HBO. Right. This. Minute. *ahem* Hellllooo creepy blue eyed dead girl.) Alas, poor Lucy is still not well. Her fever actually spiked close to 105 last night (about 3 or 4 in the morning). Some Motrin brought it back down, but it was a long couple of hours. And considering I’d gone to bed at 2 AM, well, let’s just say intentions are great, but little sleep makes for a cranky author. At any rate, Lucy’s also picked up a hell of a hacking cough,… Read more

Friday Afternoon Updates

Posted in blog, sad, ye ye | Leave a comment
Obviously I wasn’t really online yesterday, partially because I was so busy and partially because there’s a certain sacredness about a funeral that does demand your attention. Or it should, anyway. Overall, it was a very nice day. My father-in-law wasn’t particularly religious, so it wouldn’t have made sense to do the usual sort of pomp-and-circumstance type funeral.  He wasn’t actually Buddhist either, but much of his family is so there were a lot of little touches in that respect. I actually found it to be far more comforting than other funerals I’ve attended. Maybe it’s because it was so relaxed and laid back – there was no priest, no overtone of forgiveness or sins or anything like that. (Yeah, I come from the Catholic background – every funeral I’ve been to has been dark and depressing and terribly solemn.) We had a table set up with his picture and… Read more
