Bleah Car Shopping
Just a short post today to reaffirm the fact that I detest car shopping with all the heat of a thousand burning suns. No, I haven’t bought anything yet. Probably will tomorrow. Was trying to talk myself into a smexy Jeep Rubicon, but the back bench seat is *really* uncomfortable for the kids (doesn’t recline at all. Okay for short trips, but I suspect longer drives would probably suck. I sat in it for all of five minutes while it was in park and my back was ready to commit seppaku within 30 seconds.) And so I will probably have to go with something a tad more family oriented after all. *sobs quietly into the corner* The picture, btw, is a bright yellow Mustang. With a mounted deer head up on a tow hitch. It apparently is electronic and moves. I can’t decide if that’s brilliant or completely messed up.…

I had it in my head to write a ranty post about something that probably doesn’t matter to anyone. But then I came across this picture and I decided to post it instead. Because it is awesome.…

Thursday Night WTFkery

Okay, while I get that there’s an obesity issue with kids and people in general in the US, can I just say how much I despise the concept of this self-published book? “This book is about a 14 year old girl who goes on a diet and is transformed from being extremely overweight and insecure to a normal sized girl who becomes the school soccer star. Through time, exercise and hard work, Maggie becomes more and more confident and develops a positive self image.” Okay. All well and good. You know. Except for that whole “NORMAL SIZED” thing. And the fact that it’s marketed for readers age six and up. Age. Six. Six. I want to chuck my computer out the window right now. I’m all for being active and having self-confidence, but Jesus. I don’t think first graders need to feel like shit because they aren’t skinny enough. My…

Word Whore Thursday: Where I Want To Live

Over at Word-Whores for my weekly blog post – this time on where I want to move back to. (Yes, that would be the beach.) Otherwise things have been fairly quiet. I’ve been out doing some test driving of cars (going to test a Jeep today). I don’t want to make any snap decisions, but I must admit I really hate to car shop – although last night was fairly amusing. We had to take the kids with us, and I don’t know WHY it is, but whenever I tell them “Hey, you guys need to be quiet and while we do this,” it’s like I hit an internal switch that makes them act as obnoxious as possible. If it wasn’t Connor chattering away at the sales guy about his Transformers game on his DS, it was Lucy. Telling him all about how she had to pee. But she was…

Brush of Darkness 3 Scene
Just ’cause I feel like posting a bit. It’s super rough. Bear with me. OOO “What was that you were saying yesterday about a Denny’s?” I sniffed at the jerky, my nose wrinkling as the scent of rotting meat hit me in the face. “I didn’t think this stuff went bad.” “It doesn’t,” Phineas whispered. “Don’t move, Abby.” I froze, the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end. I swallowed against the gag reflex as the necrotic odor grew stronger. My eyes watered as though I’d bit into an onion. Slowly, I turned my head to catch a glimpse of a bulbous, blue skinned face, set off by tiny eyes and massive pointed ears. A draping of furs hung over the creature’s waist, a fact for which I was terribly grateful. I had *no* desire to see what it looked like in the buff. Of course the…
