From the Mouths of Babes

There’s something sort of mind-numbing about the process of death. On one level, there’s grief – however a person chooses to acknowledge it – and sometimes that can take a while. But there’s also the fact that the world as a whole doesn’t stop turning, even if time has halted in yours. There are the mundane tasks of dealing with “arrangements”, banks to be called, hospital bills to take care of, family to notify, clothes and personal belongings to sort through. And memories to hold or cast away as one must. All of it has to get done by someone, so I suspect there’s a coping mechanism of sorts that allows us a few moments of pain and then pushes us forward, back into “normality,” for at least the time it takes us to get things done. Although I have gone through this before, in some ways this is a…

Hey, guys. As much as I wanted to spend some time this evening recapping all the fabulous stuff that happened this past week, I have to put that on hold for a while. A few hours ago, mr myn’s father had a very severe stroke. He’s in the hospital with bleeding on the brain and is not expected to wake up at this point. So we’re in the middle of bedside vigils right now and for rather obvious reasons, I probably won’t be around much this week. ETA: Thanks so much for the emails and comments. JM passed away about 11 AM this morning, but he went peacefully.…

I Can Has No Sleep

Yeah. I’ve been a very bad blogger this week. Mea culpa. I’ve also had like no sleep and my eating schedule is completely gorked up. I’m not even going to start with what the hell has happened with my back the last few days. *ahem* I did want to shout out that my fellow Word Whore Marcella Burnard won a RT Reviewers Choice award yesterday, so massive kudos to that. However, I did want to give a shoutout to my old childhood friend who picked me up from the hotel yesterday and got me into the back stage lot of Paramount for a while. Very cool. I’ll blog more about him next week. Also, thanks to all my Leaguers for showing me the ropes and making me laugh my ass off. 🙂 I’ve got the vampire ball tonight and the book signing tomorrow and then after that? I have no…

Okay – no strippers yet, but obviously I didn’t post yesterday, mainly because I was on a plane for most of it. By the time I got to LAX last night it was 8PM in LA time…but 11 PM by my clock. And I was starving. And I met some friends at the bar. So I didn’t go to bed until 1 AM, LA time. Yes, that means I went to bed until about 4 AM, my time. Confused yet? I am. >_< I’m also really, really tired. LOL Pictures and updates to follow as I can make them. For now, I’m off to snag breakfast and find something to get in to. 😀…

Packing Madness & Informal Title Contest
No. Actually, I’m NOT done packing. Yes. I *am* freaking out. Most of the stuff is laid out and ready to go though – I just need to get things in place. Â (And grrr – my new video card appears to have crapped the bed. Always, always things just fall apart as soon as I’m trying to get ready to leave.) But in the meantime, I’ve been asked to come up with some title suggestion for BoD 2, and most likely the series name. Now, I’m going to be brainstorming on the plane tomorrow, but I thought I’d open this up to suggestions. Â My favorite gets an ARC of book 2, whenever it comes out, as a prize. (I can’t guarantee it will actually *be* the title – publisher gets the last word on that, but I always like to hear other opinions.) As a side note, Comb of Darkness…
