A Day in the Life of Phin
A special treat for all you Phineas fans out there – he’s over at Bibliophilic Book Blog with a little post about what an average day for him is like. (And oddly enough, he seems to be showing up to answer comments!) Go check it out. 🙂 Incidentally, I’m actually looking at what it would take to maybe get a Team Phin shirt made up. He’s pretty much proving to be quite the popular character. In other news and things, I’m being interviewed over at J.E. Taylor’s Musings and Rants blog today. Win a Phin! (and ARC)
To celebrate the upcoming holidays (and the release of A Brush of Darkness next month,) I’m hosting a mini contest! Winner gets an ARC and an awesome stuffed unicorn of their very own. 😉 Rules: 1) You have to write a haiku. Unicorn haiku would be preferred, but anything to do with bacon is a plus. (Bonus points if Hello Kitty or David Garrett is involved.) They can be raunchy. (If you feel like branching into limerick mode, that’s okay too.) You may enter more than one haiku. Sucker for Sidekicks
My good friend, Laura Bickle, just had a new release the other week – Sparks. (Shameless pimpage – go *buy* it, my friends, and the first book in the series, Embers.) Aside from the fact that the book contains some excellent writing (and all the ghosts, elementals and fire action you could hope for), the book also boasts a sidekick. And not just any sidekick – he’s a fire elemental, also known as a salamander, who goes by the name Sparky. Sparky is a hoot and easily one of my favorite characters in the book. Even though he doesn’t talk, he’s definitely got a larger-than-life personality – but his presence never overrides the story. However, this got me to thinking a bit as to the popularity of animal sidekicks in books. Quite a few novels them have them, although the form and format change a bit, depending on the author or the story.…
