Word Whore ~ Fox and Willow Thursday

Posted in blog | Tagged , , | Leave a comment
Usual updates at the usual places today – first up over at Word Whores talking a little about regrets and the ones that got away. Missed opportunities and wasted time. I feel like I missed the boat with it a little – I probably should have written one of those “10 Things I Would Tell My Teenage Self” things, but maybe next time around. Otherwise, there’s a new page of Fox & Willow up! (Yay, the plot begins to thicken…so to speak. 😉 ) Elbow-wise – new drugs seem to be working nicely and without the nasty side effects of the other ones. Swelling is down (or moving, I’m not sure which), but I  can actually extend my arm all the way out now, and that is a HUGE improvement from Tuesday. I’ll take it. 🙂  … Read more

Hmmmph.

Incidentally, I know I’ve been rather quiet the last few days on the whole social networking front, but I’m battling a nasty staph infection in my elbow (which is about double its normal size.) It’s painful and swollen and the first set of antibiotics and I didn’t get along too well so I keep having to switch meds. Which is bad enough, but I’m also stuck trying to fight with the insurance company about the drugs they don’t want to pay for. So, yeah. That’s about where I’m at.  Hopefully back to normal soon!… Read more

TMI Tuesday

And by TMI, know that I’ll talk about it later, but needless to say *THIS* picture is a fair indication of how I’m feeling. (Except in my elbow, as opposed to being a pregnant unicorn. But it FEELS like there’s a little wasp trying to poke its way out of my skin, so close enough.) Also? Insurance companies suck. Especially when they argue with doctors about the medications that are needed by their patients.… Read more

Permission to Plan

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , | Leave a comment
I find myself at a bit of a mental cross-roads these days when it comes to my writing. Part of this is because I still consider myself a panster – when I’m writing, I’ve got my daily word count and I attempt to meet it or do better and life is good. But with this latest book, I’m having to do more research and more planning, and even though its so important to the story as a whole, I still feel guilty if I’m not actually putting words on the page. (Never mind that it does me no good to write something that I’ll have to rework heavily later on because it will be out of sync with the plotting later.) Not sure what my issue is, quite frankly. Plotting is new for me and it’s hard to give myself the time to *do* it.  I suspect I’m afraid I’ll… Read more

*Tap Tap*

Is this thing on? An author group I belong to recently had a discussion about marketing and social media, blog tours and giveaways and all the rest of it. Basically, there’s so much going on out there as far as promotion goes, and much of it gets laid at the feet of authors these days…and no one really seems to know if it makes a difference. Do people buy books because they get swag in the form of pens and postcards? Do mass blog tours and book giveaways increase sales or do they just encourage people to wait around to see if they’ll win something? Is blogging/tweeting/facebooking really that important? Or is it a just a time suck that keeps writers from writing books? Some days it just feels as though we’re in an empty room with a microphone. When all you hear is your own words echoing in your… Read more
