Mine Reputation Doth Proceed Me…

Posted in blog | Tagged , , | Leave a comment
You know, it probably says something about me that I received TWO of these cards yesterday. One came from my friend Heather (mwah!)…and mr myn bought me one too – not to give it to me specifically, but because he saw it at the store and thought I might want to pass it along to someone else. (Of course, he also bought chocolate cupcakes, so it was a win all the way around.) *ahem* At any rate, I’m over at the Book Binge today talking a little bit about writing a series (or really the history as to how mine got started). Stop on by and comment for a chance to win a copy of BoD. Also, what with Valentine’s coming up, I leave with this fantastic link to some of the most awesome lines in literature.… Read more

Word Whore Thursday

Posted in blog | Tagged , , | 1 Comment
I’m over at Word Whores today talking a little bit about my neurotic tendencies dealing with reviews. And speaking of reviews, the blog-o-sphere blew up a bit yesterday with this post over at Authors Helping Authors. The original post was changed since it went up, but as you can see by the crazy number of comments, clearly a nerve was struck. And whichever side of the line you fall on, it’s pretty obvious that it’s a no-win situation, and it’s why authors really shouldn’t go there. Authors and reviewers – we’re all human and we all make mistakes and we all get angry and hurt, but the internet has made it so easy to shove your foot so far down your own throat that you’d be crapping boot leather for a week. There are times when it is really better to just walk away. The Millions had an excellent article… Read more

Cotton Head

Posted in blog, blog stuff, rambling, sick | Leave a comment
I hate waking up and realizing I’m on the brink of a cold. It’s not quite here and if I’m really lucky I may be able hide from its snot-loving fingers. The harbingers are unmistakable – the slightly achy head, the almost scratchy throat, post nasal nastiness, the way I suddenly feel like I’m moving in slow motion… Funny how the body has a way of telling you to slow down. I know I’ve been burning the candle at both ends for a while now, and I’m definitely not getting enough sleep. (And some of those reasons have less to do with writerly things and more to do with with trying to play through Dragon Age and Awakenings before DA2 comes out next month. So,so, so excited for this game.) On the other hand, life doesn’t stop being life, even with the best of intentions. Connor’s basketball tryouts went on for over… Read more

Reluctantly Adult

Posted in blog | Tagged , , | 4 Comments
I have the awesome good fortune today to announce that I’m now an official member of the The League of Reluctant Adults! Apparently writing about panty-sniffing unicorns has more side benefits than I knew. I actually find this horrendously amusing and somewhat unexpected, but it’s also gratifying because the league is filled with snarky people…and my inner child is often all about the snark. It’s also a bit ironic for me, because two years ago I attended my first Romantic Times con, and many of the panels I went to had league members as speakers. And there I was, all dewy eyed and clutching my newly finished manuscript and wandering around  wondering what the hell I was doing. And now I get to be one. 🙂 I still don’t know what I’m doing, by the way – not sure that will ever change. I do know I’ll be blogging over there about… Read more

WTF Sunday

Posted in blog, rambling, reviews, wtf | Leave a comment
I had an awesome WTFkery planned for today, but alas, ebay has taken it down. Essentially, a couple of kids had been using their Beyblades in the bathtub. Connor has some of those and they spin pretty hard, but I guess in this case the Beyblades did about $500 worth of damage to the tub and tiles with their spinning, so the pissed off parents were putting up the Beyblades for sale…and they posted a picture of the these two completely devastated boys holding the bag of Beyblades. Sort of priceless, even if it was probably a hoax (Last I saw, the auction was up to about $300, which is way, way more than the toys are worth.). I showed it to Connor and he was, of course, all about the Beyblades. “I hope they don’t get rid of those two that light up. Those are cool.” Indeed. I suppose they are.… Read more
