Word Whores: Holidays

Posted in blog | Tagged , , | 1 Comment
I’m over at Word-Whores today talking a little bit about holidays. Think I just got sorta off-base and rambly though. Suppose that’s okay. Otherwise, I just want to give a quick shout out to Jeffe Kennedy for her release yesterday of Feeding the Vampire! Go check it out! 🙂 Also somewhat randomly, @kindlegraph has created a funky new service which allows authors to “sign” Kindle copies of books. Essentially, if you have a Kindle and you want an autograph of sorts – you go sign up for this free service and then I customize a message and attach digital signature and it automatically gets downloaded to your Kindle, just like an ebook. 🙂 So, if you’re interested in getting something like that from me, go here and make a request.  (It’s still in beta, so there may be a few bumps, but if this can get expanded into other formats… Read more

Collaborative Effort

Posted in blog | Tagged , | Leave a comment
One of the things I’ve always enjoyed about writing is writing with other people. I’ll admit I’ve never done it on a professional level, but gaming online in Play by Post games certainly lends itself well to the situation. You learn how to think on your feet and also how to “play well with others.” (Most of the time, anyway. Sometimes it can lead into a realm of frustration and occasionally it breaks up a friendship, but I’d like to think that’s more an exception than a rule.) It’s been a while since I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with anyone and I sort of miss it.  In the beginning of A Brush of Darkness, there’s a bit of a snarky commentary about a certain romance book involving a French vampire (complete with flowing silk shirts and all the rest of it.) I can admit I was poking fun at the trope… Read more

Walk Without Rhythm…and You Won’t Attract the Worm…

Posted in blog, ha ha | 2 Comments
I’m giving up on an actual post today to feature this bit of awesomesauce. The other post got away from me and I’m trying to make dinner for the kids and I’ve got beta reading to do tonight and house cleaning before Danielle gets here on Friday. And Chapter 1 of BOD 3 to continue editing. In short? I’m being a lazy sack. Alas.… Read more

Feels Like Monday Morning

Posted in blog, monday boo, rambly, updates | 2 Comments
It’s a bit early for me to be blogging, but it’s Monday and I’m cranky for some reason. Better out than in, right? Nothing I can put my finger on, really. I’ve had an inner agitation for days, but I don’t know why. Like another shoe is going to drop somewhere, though I have no frame of reference for it. I’m really hoping it’s nothing at all. (And it probably is nothing – two more days from now I’ll get distracted and forget I ever felt like this.) I’ve been trying to channel some of this through writing some shorts – did a few last week, though a number of them won’t see the light of day. Just little personal scenes to help me work through some stuff as well as some brainstorming. (And one very short little smutty fanfic that I released into the wilds. Just because.)So maybe it’s… Read more

Dragonflies

Posted in blog, dragonfly, ewww gross, sleepy, sunburned | 1 Comment
Not much of a post today, I’m afraid. I spent about 5 hours tubing on the Shenandoah River. The water level was pretty low so it was slow going considering we only went about 19 miles. So…I’m sunburned and a bit cranky. Also? I spent most of that time on the river surrounded by beautiful blue dragonflies. They landed all over us and the tubes and the raft and all that other fun stuff. I could have left it at that and been quite happy. But no. *These* dragonflies were busy…getting busy. And there is nothing quite so surreal as floating down a river in an orange tube. Covered in copulating dragonflies. Have fun with that image. Imma gonna go watch TrueBlood now.… Read more
