When the Words Die.

When I was in grade school, I really adored this series by Tom Deitz. It was sort of Urban Fantasy before UF actually became a genre – essentially the Sidhe in Georgia, with a few hapless mortals tossed into the mix. And yeah, it came out in 1986. I was in 6th grade.(I’m old!) I probably reread those first 4 or 5 books over and over again through the years, and every once in a while a new one would come out and I’d snatch it up. (I think the last once came out in 1998 – but the series had slowed down considerably by then, only coming out every few years). Times were different then. We had no internet, so I didn’t usually find out about new releases unless I physically showed up at the book store. I think we’re all a bit spoiled these days – 30 seconds…

Apparently I’m procrastinating majorly tonight. This is really a nice slice of win, tho. And hopefully earns me back some points from posting Gem Sweater. More on how they made it here –>https://www.tifr.us/tifr/2010/4/11/bacon-at-at.html…

Lord of the Edits.

I spent 13 hours straight editing my book on Saturday. A bit less than that yesterday, though mostly because SnarkyNavyWife was in town and we needed to meet up for lunch. Both of these things were made possible because mr myn took the kids out of the house for pretty much the entire weekend, a fact for which I am terribly grateful. I do regret not being able to enjoy the sunshine much on Saturday, but unfortunately, deadlines don’t wait on the weather. On the other hand, I got a tremendous amount done (including about 2500 new words written), so I suppose that’s the trade off. Much of this editing isn’t really about writing new stuff so much as reorganizing what I have. I feel like I’m constantly going back and forth and pulling out details at one spot and shoving them into another. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t…

Iron Butterfly

Friday night we tried to go out to a fancy restaurant with the kids. There are two things potentially wrong with that sentence, and I’m guessing you can probably figure out what they are. Needless to say, it did not work out overly well. It’s a total crapshoot sometimes as to whether it’s going to work out, and this time it didn’t. Part of this was probably because it wasn’t a particularly kid-friendly place, so they were slower to bring the kid’s entrees out, they didn’t have chocolate milk, and there were a lot more people nicely dressed up that we were undoubtedly interrupting. Yeah, we were *that* family. I’m sorry. 🙁 Actually, Connor was fine. Lucy was being her typical 3-yr-old Princess self. The fact that she had melted down right before we left the house should have been my sign to either abort the mission or head out…
