Philly Comic Con Highlights and Random Updates

Okay – lots to talk about from this weekend! First off – Comic Con – we only went for Saturday and Sunday, but that was plenty of fun, particularly with the kids. (They only last so long, however, so I highly recommend doing the VIP thing if you can swing it. Not having to wait in the cattle lines to get in was worth its weight in gold, particularly on Saturday morning.) Anyway – we got in about 10 AM or so and most of the day was spent doing the Chris Hemsworth VIP thing – my passes allowed for a signing and a photo op, but with such a high profile celebrity, the lines form really early, and so you still have to wait. Word Whore ~ Fox and Willow Thursday

Just a quick update post here – I’m nicely entrenched in my copy edits for  A Trace of Moonlight and should have those back to the editor next week. It’s getting rather surreal, honestly – I’m almost done. After the first-pass-pages, that’s it. My contract will be over and then it’s on to trying to sell the next big thing. Whatever that is. Guess I’ll find out, eh? In the meantime – this week is all about self-publishing over at Word Whores, so I’ve got a few things to mention there today, but definitely check out some of the other posts – there’s some really great information about it and it’s worth seeing the experiences of other writers. Word Whore ~ Fox and Willow Thursday

Usual updates at the usual places today – first up over at Word Whores talking a little about regrets and the ones that got away. Missed opportunities and wasted time. I feel like I missed the boat with it a little – I probably should have written one of those “10 Things I Would Tell My Teenage Self” things, but maybe next time around. Otherwise, there’s a new page of Fox & Willow up! (Yay, the plot begins to thicken…so to speak. 😉 ) Elbow-wise – new drugs seem to be working nicely and without the nasty side effects of the other ones. Swelling is down (or moving, I’m not sure which), but I  can actually extend my arm all the way out now, and that is a HUGE improvement from Tuesday. I’ll take it. 🙂  … Read more

Permission to Plan

I find myself at a bit of a mental cross-roads these days when it comes to my writing. Part of this is because I still consider myself a panster – when I’m writing, I’ve got my daily word count and I attempt to meet it or do better and life is good. But with this latest book, I’m having to do more research and more planning, and even though its so important to the story as a whole, I still feel guilty if I’m not actually putting words on the page. (Never mind that it does me no good to write something that I’ll have to rework heavily later on because it will be out of sync with the plotting later.) Not sure what my issue is, quite frankly. ER ~ Word Whore ~ Fox & Willow Thursday

Would have had this post up earlier, but I ended up in the ER for most of the morning/early afternoon with some sort of asthmatic reaction (from the mold/shower debacle of last week?) *shrugs* All I know is that between last night and this morning my throat was closing up and my chest was very tight and I couldn’t breathe too well. Hence the ER. All is well at the moment, though – I was given some meds and the rest of my tests came back normal, so I’ll be following up with a pulmonary doc next week, most likely. In the meantime, I’m getting an inspector out to the house tomorrow just to make sure we got everything out of the bathroom that needed to be removed. Whee.
