Last Day

Wah, pictures. You can just see the tip of my ear from this angle. Working on a getting some more. Think someone tagged me on Facebook, but I have to find out who/where. Also looking from some full body – I know the RT staff took some. Anyway, Vampire ball was *way* cooler overall – and much, much, much better music. 3 hours of dancing? No prob. Two hours at the bar? Yup. Hot tub? Sorta. People seem to have found it and it was extremely crowded last night so we just stopped and dipped our feet in it. And then I was up until 3 something debating erotica with the roomies. My last pitch went very well – got a full manuscript request from Tor, as well as a synopsis request for the next two books. I will be editing and polishing my ass off for the next few… Read more

I have to give a shout out to Liz this morning, who did such an awesome job with my hair last nigh (pictures to follow shortly). I had big fat curls, all piled on top of my head…totally amazing. (Sorta like I imagine Piper’s hair actually, so kinda cool from that perspective too). I had no idea my hair could even look like that. So *hugs* to Liz. And *hugs* to Jeffe for talking us through our pitch madness yesterday. Couldn’t ask for better friends. The faery ball itself was very nice too – the costumes were great. Spent quite a bit of time chatting up some EC authors. Got some web work from one of them. 🙂 I debated entering the contest, but in the end I was just entirely too chickenshit and I didn’t. *shrugs* Prancing around on the stage just isn’t my thing, I guess. The shoes… Read more

Two down. Two to go. Actually it’s more like 3 down, since one of the people I was supposed to pitch to tomorrow had a conflict and just said to send her the first 3 chapters up front. That and a short note and it goes to the top of the slush pile. The actual pitching went well. Nervous as hell initially but it really wasn’t as bad as I thought. Got a request for the first 50 pages from one and the first 3 chapters from the other, so that’s my goal next week. Has me thinking that I don’t know if I have enough of a hook for the pitch, but hopefully the writing sample will do what I need it to. Now it’s time for a little rest, another mixer or two and then the ball. My roomies are going to do my hair, yay!… Read more

Ok, so the cure for not being able to sleep the night before is apparently dancing for over 3 hours and then sitting at the bar for another 2, coming home, taking a shower and stumbling into bed around 3 or 4 am. *cough*. And I have to pitch today. I have not written a pitch. Myn is going to wing it. The workshop was very helpful and I have happily managed to rub shoulders with a fair number of editors/agents/pubbed writers to have a good idea of what I need to do. So yay for me. Went to the EC Jungle party last night. I seem to have left my monkey on the table. I also lost my ankle bracelet and I’m a wee bit heartbroken about that, but not sure if I’ll be able to find it. Talked/danced with some models last night. It’s rather amusing. They’d slink… Read more

Ok…here for less than 24 hours, but I can already tell it’s going to be a good time. Pros: 1) The guy at security in the airport flirted with me. Said my eyes were hypnotic and then mumbled something about getting into trouble. Erm? 2) The airplane was late, but the seat next to me was *empty*. Yay. Room to stretch out. 3) Roomies are fun! 4) Jacuzzis are fun! Cons: 1) Roomies snore! (or at least one of them does – and you’d think I’d be used to it by now since mr myn snores. However, it seems kinda rude to reach out across the room and kick Liz in the butt with my foot like I do with him.) 2) The motherfucking mockingbird that sat outside our room and sang ALL DAMN NIGHT. “TWIT TWIT TWIT. WHOO WHOO WHOO. ACKY ACKY ACKY“. I honestly didn’t recognize what birds… Read more
