You know, just ONCE, I’d like technology to work. The third replacement video card Dell sent me finally blew out tonight, but this time it pulled the entire motherboard down with it. Yeah, nothing like that lovely burning smell to solidify the sudden “Oh Shit” feeling in the pit of my stomach. I had a spare NVidia GeForce 260 GTX kicking around, so I replaced the burned out card, but the computer booted up realllly slowllly. Eventually the monitor came on, but after a subsequent reboot, nothing. My warranty runs out in May, so Dell is sending me a new motherboard and a new video card. (both probably refurbs, of course). I dunno. I’ve had nothing but issues with this thing since I bought it almost 3 years ago – and considering it was over $4000, I’m feeling a tad ripped off. Not that I have any illusions about my power on teh internets, but for the love of all that’s holy, avoid using Colorteck.com as your webhost. I’m not sure what’s happened to them recently – I’ve used them for years for my very quiet personal site and never had an issue. And keep in mind that when I did sign up with them, they had a phone number you could call (which I did sometimes), but otherwise it’s been a good thing. However, last Friday I discovered that my site was listed as “temporarily suspended”. I never got any kind of email notification about it, and I had just paid for another 6 months of service via paypal the week before. Seriously.

I’d like to say my back is perfect and lovely, but I’m having a moment of panic this morning as a fair amount of pain has returned down the left side. Mostly in the left ass cheek, actually. And it’s definitely nerve pain – like what I had before, only in a different place. It pisses me off. I do have a tendency to panic, which I’ll admit. Though, I *do* feel somewhat justified in doing so, as I seem to have a slew of medical bullshit issues that have no cure and are terribly chronic. (And usually pretty damn painful) I will say that I no longer have muscle knots in the lumbar area where I did before, so small favors, there. Meh. Lousy weekend, lousy birthday**. Rather than bitching about it, I’ll just throw this up instead. The Waterboys are one of my fav bands, introduced to me many years ago by a friend in Ireland (still think I have the tape somewhere). This song wasn’t on the tape, but that’s ok.
