Perception

Posted in craft, david garrett, writing | 1 Comment
Forgive me the utter fangirlishness of this post, if you will. This morning has been a rather wretched affair of unanswered emails as I discovered that my “real” website had been suspended, even though I just paid the host for another 6 months of service. I have yet to get a single reply except that they have forwarded my issue to billing. But that was 8 hours ago, and I refuse to fuck around with my hosting, so I’ve dumped them and found a new one. Let’s just hope DNS kicks in quick enough that I don’t lose too much email. *ahem* Anyway, so about this whole perception thing. Yes, in looking at the picture there, it seems pretty harmless. Just a hand holding a violin. And I’ll admit, I’m dreadfully ignorant about how one actually holds a violin. Maybe that actually is how you do it, and I’m just… Read more

The Fantasy of Desire

Posted in craft, david garrett, desire, romance | 7 Comments
I can fall in love at the drop of a hat. And I do pretty much every day in some form or another. Or maybe I just think I do. It doesn’t take much – an exotic accent, a unique skill,  windswept hair, whatever. It’s a mindless sort of love though.  It doesn’t require any real commitment or knowledge or even the ability to have a functional conversation – because it’s purely fantasy. But let’s be honest –  there’s a sort of safety in falling in love with the unattainable. Whether it’s a character in a book or a movie or a random celebrity, you’re pretty much free to imagine whatever scenario you like without worries of any sort of repercussion. There’s no bad breath or jock itch in my dreams, anyway. And probably not yours, either. I suppose that’s the broader appeal in romance books – for a reader… Read more

Poking Fun (with Love)

Okay, so I got my new David Garrett CD yesterday – and the music is brilliant – nice and classical and I’ve pretty much been listening to it nonstop on the iPod. However. I know he was a model. I know he’s full of teh pretty. I know he could play the violin with his toes better than I’ll ever manage to play the piano normally (yeah, yeah – 7 years of lessons and all I got was this lousy T-shirt. I can read music. Sort of.) But seriously, isn’t this just a *little* over the top? Is it me or is this picture (scanned from the CD leaflet) just *begging* to be Photoshopped into a romance cover?  I mean, really, all I need is some kind of clinch image to superimpose beneath it and the work is pretty much done for me. Although, according to SmartBitches, a few animals… Read more

His Royal Hotness Returns…

Posted in david garrett | 4 Comments
It’s Friday, and I’m just about tapped out for serious subjects to blog about….so, um. Yeah. David is coming back this way in March. Bigger venue and probably way more expensive. Tickets haven’t gone on sale yet, but I’ll be trotting on up to Maryland for sure. (Though I really hope he comes back to the Birchmere at some point – utterly brilliant being able to get such a great seat for such a low price). And he has a new album out too – but it’s an import, which kinda blows. (Mine is on its way here from Switzerland, I believe). Why, no, I’m not obsessed. Not at all. Why do you ask? Hey – why are you backing away?? Rock Prelude – David Garrett… Read more

Morning Music

Last one, I promise. (maybe)  Most of the clips I had were just bits and pieces – the battery started running out on the camera *and* my memory card filled up.  But here’s a few that were decent. And this one is a funky angle ’cause it’s mostly just his back, but I got a smile at the end there. 😉… Read more
