Moving Right Along

I printed out my manuscript today. I’m not sure why it is, but I seem to edit better when I’ve got the words on paper to look at. It’s a little more visceral to be holding that red pen, anyway – even if it’s a pita to haul around. I know there’s quite a few places that need polishing. When I dirty draft/edit like I have been, the use of certain phrases becomes pretty repetitive at times, and I can tell I’m overusing things like glance, gaze, smirk, snort, etc. Most of them I’m just going to take out, I think – otherwise I’m going to have nothing but people who stand around raising their eyebrows at each other. Random Bits of Awesomesauce

I finished my edits last night. Finally. At least the first round of them. I’ve already got the first 16 chapters back to start the process over again, but the hard part is technically done, so now it’s just polish and snip, I think. (I managed to add about 5000 extra words to the manuscript, so I suspect we’re going to have to streamline it a bit). I’m a little sketchy with how I’ve got the ending set up so I will probably be going back through that again, but as of 2 AM this morning, I couldn’t really focus on it anymore. I sent it off to my editor to give her a chance to look at the rest of it, and maybe we can come up with something better. Spinning my Web

My first round of edits are nearly finished (just part of the last chapter left), so one of the next things I need to start working on is my “official” author website. Which is sort of amusing to me, since this blog is probably about as official as it gets – it’s pretty much all me and I like it that way. However, the powers that be have declared I need to have a more central location on the web, and so shall it be be done. Darchala is nearly finished with the banner (and hopefully a few smaller odds and ends) and I just adore it. I’ve got the domain names…but now I need to figure out if I’m going to host it directly, or just use WordPress to host it. (Or host it *and* use WordPress). The Unbreaking of Me

The three hours at the homeopath on Thursday were among the toughest of my life. Homeopaths attempt to treat the entire person as opposed to just physical symptoms, and they believe that many ailments can be triggered by emotional issues. Apparently, I have a lot. And that’s not to just rehash the stuff about my mom – we went back pretty far into my childhood and worked our way up to the present. Parts of the discussion were eyeopening. Parts were heartbreaking.  There were many questions I either couldn’t answer or didn’t want to answer (and there is a difference).I broke down and cried more than once. I repress a *lot*. And I’ve apparently been doing it for much longer than I realized.
