Luck in the Shadows

This isn’t really a review – just a happy announcement that Lynn Flewelling’s latest Nightrunner book is out now. 🙂 It’s been a while since I read the original – Luck in the Shadows, but I think I’m going to have to get the whole set on the Kindle so I can reread them again, because I really adored them. And I’m the first to admit that it’s the first two I love the most – but to be honest, it’s not the plot I remember so much as the characters and the relationships between them. (And I’m not overly forgetful, but there was a several year gap between the latest few books and the first ones, so it’s to be expected, I think.) SteamPunk Sparklies

Thanks to Darchala for sending me this awesome SteamPunk necklace that she made! The picture doesn’t really do it justice, but the bee is actually very intricate, and there are these nice little clockwork cogs in the chain. I’m going to wear it as part of my SteamPunk costume for the FF&P Gatheriing (and probably next year’s RT faery or vampire ball.)… Read more

Solitary Walking

The four of us went for a walk in the rain  on Sunday. Specifically Burke Lake Park – which has a nice playground and a mini train and a carousel. Good stuff, all the way around…but it had been pissing rain since the night before and there wasn’t anyone really in the park. The playground itself was too wet to do anything with and the train wasn’t running so we just went for a walk. We didn’t manage the whole thing – the entire lake is like 218 acres but we did maybe a third there and back. Not because I wasn’t willing, but Lucy wasn’t going to be able to do all of it without some sort of stroller. We stopped at an overpass and watched the swallows darting in and out beneath the bridge at one point, as well as some turtles and a great blue heron. We also… Read more
