Cupping

Today at acupuncture, I mentioned to the practitioner that I’d like to try cupping some day – and before I knew it, she had pulled out a box of little glass cups and *poof* – instant suction onto my back and shoulder. I twittered this fact and that sparked a flurry of curious tweets about what it was like, so I figured I’d post up a picture. This is obviously several hours later, so most of the ones on my upper back have already faded (except for that one up there on the left). It didn’t hurt exactly, just felt a little funky when she started shifting the cups to pull on the skin. (She didn’t think they would leave much of a mark as my blood is apparently not very stagnant.) Overall, I think I only had them on for a few minutes. Did it work? Hard to say. I definitely left…

Hello Kitty Fail – Every Click a Sexy Experience!

I am always on the search for a new Hello Kitty mouse. They break, frequently, and yet I cannot help my most shameful addiction. However, Sanrio-licensed mice are pretty expensive – especially given they don’t usually last for more than a few months. Even so, I’ve paid anywhere between $24 to $50 for the real thing. Given their propensity for destruction, this has led to a fair amount of trolling on ebay for the cheapest Sanrio knockoff I can find. ($6 from Hong Kong? *SOLD*!) Lucy decided to help out with the photo of the latest one there, hence the feet. I got it in the mail this morning, and on first look it’s about standard for a knock-off. HK looks good…but a little off, which I can live with. Certainly, nothing about this mouse screams “sexy” to me. Unless I’m just not looking at it hard enough. But, no!…

Well okay, then. Still can’t give details about the “deal.” Which is fine. I’ve had to push off a few requests for blog interviews until that point, but otherwise I don’t think there’s anything new on that particular front that I can talk about. It is interesting, though. I think a lot of aspiring authors have this feeling that once they have a deal in hand, everything will be perfect. “I can quit my job and write full time!” for example. Which, okay – maybe if you get some massive 6 figure deal, you *can*. But even so, it’s a good thing to keep in mind no matter what sort of deal you cut that 1) You won’t be getting all that money up front – it will be spread out to you in chunks as dependent upon the stipulations of your contract. 2) Your agent gets his/her well-deserved cut…

I’ve always been rather fond of Brighid. As a Goddess or a Saint, she always had a particular vibe that I dug. Patroness of Healing, Smithwork and Poetry, She is also associated with fire, the hearth and sheep (ewes, specifically), among others. And I don’t really want to get into a big discussion about all the myths and legends about Her, though if you’re looking for a good site on which to fine more information, certainly Brighid.org is a good place to start. Point is, I wore Her medallion for a number of years, after a particularly bad point in my life. I actually became, for lack of a better term, a sort of priestess for one of Her Cells and for one day a month I kept the sacred flame going, lit from a candle from Kildare. (Cill Dara) (Go to https://www.ordbrighideach.org/raven/ for more on that) These days I no longer…
