Grains of Truth
We walked in silence for several blocks, my feet knowing the way back without my having to think about it. Past the pawnshop and the Bagel Café, Fiddler’s Green Fine Irish Gifts and the Opera Alley where the buskers performed. A glass player sat there tonight, perched behind a table full of elegant crystal, his fingers nimbly plying his trade. It was late enough that most of the shops were closed, but we moved through the waning crowds without issue, the vibrato of the glass music echoing eerily between the buildings as we walked. The thing about writing fantasy, particularly urban fantasy, is that parts of it have to be rooted in reality – if only to give the reader something to anchor to. Something about having a mental base of operations makes it easier to accept the fantasy elements, I think. I will admit when I wrote BoD I didn’t…

Authors After Dark Schedule
Okay, here’s a little run down on what’s happening as far as the AAD con goes. I won’t actually be there for the Thursday fun, but starting on Friday, this is where I’ll be: 11 AM – Character Fail Panel 3 PM – Odd Paranormals Panel Between 11PM – 1AM – I’ll be running the Hospitality Suite during some part of this time block. It’s also during the Mythos Ball. I haven’t decided if I’m dressing up for this or not. (even tho, yes I have elf ears and light up wings and all the rest. We’ll see.) Saturday: 11 AM – Demons Panel 2 PM – 4:30 PM – Book signing 7 PM – until 1 AM – the Steampunk dinner/ball. Yes I’m totally cosplaying for this one. 😀 Otherwise, I’ll be kicking around and taking it all in. Open to pretty much anything. Ping me on twitter @allison_pang…

I’m feeling incredibly lazy today and I’m sort of out of words at the moment. Think this picture probably sums it up the best. (Plus if you’re in a bad mood, I can’t imagine not being in at least somewhat of a better one now.) 😀…

Well-Adjusted Monkeys
Not much going on for a Friday – just playing catch up around the house and working from home. (Which is nice to be able to do sometimes.) I’ve got some last bits of a beta read to do – and a few small revisions on the teaser chapter for BoD 3. (Which is also going to need a title here. Gah I’m so bad at that. A Smattering of Smut?) Otherwise, I’m going to be in Philly next week for the Authors After Dark convention (though I have to miss Thursday due to other commitments). But I’ll be on a few panels on Friday and Saturday. (I’ll post the schedule next week.) In the meantime, A Sliver of Shadows is now available for pre-order on Amazon and B&N (no Kindle or Nook yet, but I’m sure those will be coming as it gets closer to the pub date.) No…

Word Whores: Holidays
I’m over at Word-Whores today talking a little bit about holidays. Think I just got sorta off-base and rambly though. Suppose that’s okay. Otherwise, I just want to give a quick shout out to Jeffe Kennedy for her release yesterday of Feeding the Vampire! Go check it out! 🙂 Also somewhat randomly, @kindlegraph has created a funky new service which allows authors to “sign” Kindle copies of books. Essentially, if you have a Kindle and you want an autograph of sorts – you go sign up for this free service and then I customize a message and attach digital signature and it automatically gets downloaded to your Kindle, just like an ebook. 🙂 So, if you’re interested in getting something like that from me, go here and make a request. (It’s still in beta, so there may be a few bumps, but if this can get expanded into other formats…
