I decided to indulge a little bit for my birthday this week and bought a print of Stephanie Law’s The Trickster card from her forthcoming DreamDance Oracle deck. (The deck won’t be available for a while as it isn’t finished, but the cards that are currently there are all very lovely.) And yes, this was a splurge. The only thing I actually asked for on Monday was a McDonald’s milkshake – I haven’t had one in years, and after a week in the hospital and all that jazz, I just wanted something simple, so happy birthday to me. This card hits a number of buttons for me – foxes, rabbits, coyote, magpies, (all tricksters in various stories,) plus the romanticism of the dancing, masked pair – which does have a bit of a Labyrinth/David Bowie/Goblin King vibe to it, and that doesn’t hurt in the slightest. I had a sleep study done last week on the advisement of one of my docs. It was mostly one of those things where they don’t necessarily suspect anything, but they want to rule out the particulars of sleep apnea or restless leg syndrome. I sort of wonder if most creative sorts have issues with sleep… Read more

Yes, I am questioning why douche bags is listed as two words, when it should be one. These are the things that make my world turn, obviously. It’s a bit odd knowing that for all intents and purposes, my book contract is officially over. I mailed those first pass pages off this morning and as of now, I’m done. (Yes, there’s all the promo stuff to do – the swag to hand out, the guest blogs and the cons, but the contract itself is filled.) And yes, it is bittersweet. Reading through those pages one last time and correcting the small things, I can’t help but wonder if I could have done things differently. Or if… Read more
