Everyday Milestones

So it’s my 11th wedding anniversary today. Last year was more of a “milestone” number and mr myn and I ran off to NYC for the weekend, sans kids, and had a blast. This year, our schedules are a little too complicated to do anything quite so drastic. Both kids are in school. I’ve got book deadlines. Mr myn is working quite a bit. (All the usual, I suppose.) The time slipped away from us, though we will try to find a few moments next weekend to do something just for us. (Getting a few hours alone is far nicer than buying each other some sort of fancy trinkets – I’m hoping to get us out to the Ren Faire or go pumpkin picking or something outdoorsy.) Of course, there’s always something nice about being appreciated, but I also think there’s a comfortable medium when you get to a certain…

Wednesday Afternoon WTFkery

Uh. There are no words. This dress is made of 3000 cow and yak nipples. The dress, which resembles nothing so much as an overwrought bra and bustle covered in pinkish beige florettes, is decorated with nipples that Freire collected from the scrap heaps at various British tanneries. Playing With The Scaffolding

So as I’m cruising along in the book writing scheme of things, I’ve come to realize I’m a big carrot dangler. When I first started writing BoD – I just wrote whatever scene I wanted when I wanted to…and then fit them into place. A Sliver of Shadow was a little different because I was under deadline and I didn’t want to write it that way. I wanted to go “in order.” Which became a little more complicated once I realized that the 40k or so I’d written before I sold BoD was going to have to be completely reworked. And reworked. And reworked. But this third book is more of a clean slate. I don’t really have any preconceived notions about it, except for the basic concept I had to submit for the outline to the publisher. In some ways that makes it easier…but in others it makes things…
