I’m over at Word Whores today, as per usual, talking it up about why I like writing sex scenes. However, it does get a little TMI as far as some things in my personal life go (medically speaking), so fair warning there.
And my usual disclaimer here is that I don’t talk about these issues to garner sympathy, but to let other women who have similar issues know that there *is* support out there. Having dealt with this particular level of chronic pain for nearly twenty years, I’m very much aware of the despair that can go along with it.
Anyway, so there is that. I’m not sure why I wrote about it as much as I did. I was a little stung the other day by something someone had said about the book, although I probably shouldn’t have been. I’m not even going to get into what was said, but it did make me question a bit about why and who I’m writing some of those sex scenes for. (And ideally, I’m writing them because they make sense for where they are in the story – i.e. they drive the plot forward, as opposed to writing them merely to arouse the reader.)
