The Shadow Queen

I don’t think I’ll normally be doing reviews, but I kinda felt like one tonight. Procrastination maybe – writing seems to be rather difficult today, but I think that’s a combination of stress and exhaustion, so I’ll keep plugging away as I can. Anyway – review time. The Shadow Queen is Anne Bishop’s latest foray in the world of the Black Jewels, and as much as I really love that universe,I’m afraid this story fell a little short for me. I know there’s going to be a sequel to it, as well as another volume of short stories released in a bit, but I just felt like everything here was wrapped up too quickly and yet, it left me hanging. It’s Friday.

…and thank God/ess for that. Honestly. I had a point to make but it seems to have dribbled away between one breath and the next, so no crazy rantings today. Just silence. *OOOOOMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmm…..* Word count is creeping up. Pop-pop is dropping by tomorrow and will hopefully take the kids off my hands for a few hours so I can get some more writing done. Getting closer to the end, I suppose – which kind of freaks me out, but in a good way. Now if I can just learn to make the day last longer than 24 hours or sleep less I think I’ll be ok. Of course I realize that the above paragraph sounds like all I want to do is dump my kids and run, and that’s not true at all – just trying to meet my deadlines and such. Character Commissions

Eh well, those of you who know me know I like playing around in Poser. I’m ok at it. Certainly not a genius and I don’t really tout myself as an “artist”. It’s fun. It’s relaxing. And sometimes it’s just a nice pick-me-up to take a character or situation I’ve written about and make it come to life. For the most part, I enjoy it. Doing characters for other people is fun too – but there’s a condition to that statement. When I can connect to a person or their character – either by writing with them or through a personal friendship, it’s much easier to put my spin on it. Sometimes it’s really not, though, which frustrates me greatly. I *want* to make it work, but there are definitely times it’s like pulling teeth – either the user doesn’t give me any information or any feedback on the comps… Read more
