Breaking Up With a Song

What is it about teenagers and break up tapes? All through high school, I remember watching my friends go through the usual angst of mating and dating and dumping and pregnancy scares and all that fun stuff. I didn’t actually get a chance to partake of such things until later in high school (senior year in fact). Ah, such the wallflower, I. But in any case, one of the consistent things about it was the breakup tape. Gender didn’t seem to play much of a role here – both guys and girls that I knew would make them (although I think boys made more of them than girls. Maybe that’s because they’re not as good with their feelings?) Still, I have to wonder at it. Do you put hateful songs? Fun songs? Songs that make you remember your last dance together? …Heading home again, eh?
So I’m back at the airport, waiting for my flight out. Customs was a breeze today and wireless is free so life is very good, atm. Canada was awesome. I ate like a pig – Gunter and Winter fed me *extremely* well, and were kind enough to cart me around and make frequent potty stops, so for that I’m horribly grateful. Aside from that, the mountains were beautiful, the kids were great, the shopping was fab, and the writing was on. I couldn’t have asked for a better holiday. 🙂 (Earlier grumpy post aside. I *could* have used more sleep – but that’s my own damn fault.)…

So I’m sitting here this morning wondering why I went to bed at 1 AM. (Which, with the time change, is 3 AM my time). And then I lay there for several hours, unable to sleep. It was noisy out in the hallway of the hotel for sure, but that’s not what was bothering me. My thoughts just kept running around and around, mostly focused on things it’s probably best not to mention. (What, you thought I was going to be *less* cryptic?? Silly you.) Admittedly, I have a lot of pressure on myself to finish up my editing – and that’s what sucked up most of my time after Winter went to bed. But there’s always more to it than that.
