Word Whore Thursday: Writing What You Love
I’m over at Word Whores today, talking about writing what you love. Sort of a twitchy time-frame to write something like that because after finishing up my last batch of edits for A Sliver of Shadow I sorta hate everything I’ve written. Pretty typical, I think. I’m happy with the core of the story, but after actively searching for flaws over and over and over, it’s hard not to think that everything I write is crap and how the hell did I get published and OMG everyone’s gonna think this next book sucks and I suck and on and on and on… (Yeah, I’m neurotic. Think you’ve all figured that out by now.) But. It is done and there’s pride in that too. So, I’m taking a week off from everything creative. (And hey, new DLC coming out on Tuesday for DA2, yo!) and then I’ll head back into book…

RWA Bound
Okay – so I’m doing a little last minute scrambling to get everything together, but as of tomorrow morning I’ll be on a train bound for NYC to attend the RWA convention. 🙂 I’m trying to pack lighter/smaller this time around simply because I’m tired of hauling around a massive suitcase. I don’t know if I’ll have much luck or not, but I guess we’ll see what happens. I’ll be at the Literacy Signing tomorrow at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square from 5:30 until 7:30 tomorrow and the Pocket Books signing on Friday from 12:00 until 1:30.  (And on a scary note, I’m being filmed on Wednesday as part of an Urban Fantasy roundtable over at Simon & Schuster. I’m really, really camera shy so this terrifies me just a bit.) The important bits are Thursday night at the FF&P Gathering, where my fellow Word Whore, Jeffe Kennedy is…

Word Whore Thursday: Influences
I’m over at Word Whores today talking about my influences, such as they are. I’m focusing on the two works that primarily define a good deal of my inner workings – The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle and The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen. On a different note, I’m happy to announce that I’ve sold the Spanish rights to A Brush of Darkness! If all goes as it should, the Spanish version should be available in October 2011. Can’t wait to see what it looks like. 😀…

Word Whore Thursday: Getting Hit On
I’m over at Word Whores today, talking about getting hit on. Sort of odd, really, because I think most of my stories pretty much cross the line into outright harassment, but it makes for an interesting discussion, anyway. Since most of the experiences on the blog are from the female-getting-hit-on perspective, I’d actually be interested to hear more about it from the other side. Â *Do* women hit on men just as much? Or are they just not as blatant about it? (Or did I just visit the wrong clubs in my youth?) Actually, I sorta take that back. I do seem to remember at Romantic Times a few years ago, a couple of the cover models got groped pretty badly at times. (And maybe they did all the time and I just wasn’t paying attention.) But I do remember one incident where an older woman kept trying to stick her…

Word Whore Thursday
I’m over at Word-Whores today, where the theme this week is unusual pets. (So of course, I’m focusing on the hedgehog.) Otherwise things are holding at a steady state, although I’ve got a few things behind the scenes that I’m really hoping for (more about that if/when it does happen.) I am also fleshing out some odds and ends in the hopes that a Melanie story will make an appearance in a possible upcoming anthology. Also, I’ve finally ordered bookplates. If all goes well, I should have them by next week, and I’ll be happy to send them out  for a SASE.…
