The Day After…

Posted in blog | Tagged , , | 2 Comments
*sighs* It’s sort of anticlimactic today. After all that massive amount of build-up and crazy tweeting and online chatting and giving away of iPods….today just seems so…normal. Almost. I did stop by the local B&N yesterday and beamed at the three copies of A Brush of Darkness that were sitting on the shelf. Dan took a picture of me there. I doubt any of you will ever see it, because instead of smiling, I have this sort of strained grimace thing going on. In years to come, people will wonder if I was stoned, or drunk. Possibly both. Definitely tired. Anyway, just a few things on tap for today – I have a guest post over at Book Chick City and I’m doing a live chat tonight over at Savvy Authors at 9 PM (EST). I’ll be talking a bit about the differences in UF and Paranormal Romance and some of… Read more

Swag-ger

Posted in blog | Tagged , , | Leave a comment
In anticipation of next week, I finally caved in and bought a bunch of swag from Ninth Moon. Not a huge amount, and not stuff I really plan on giving away in large  quantities. The “Signed by Allison” stickers were a no-brainer, since I’m already getting requests for signed copies of BoD. I also got a sheet of little round stickers with the cover and some note-pad sheets (really just to have something nice to write little notes on, go figure!). Between that and the ton of bookmarks I still have left over I should be good. I wasn’t entirely sure about the rest of it – things like book plates and pens *seem* cool, but right now it’s more of an expense than I feel like doing. Although I have had some requests for swag (mostly in the form of bookmarks, which I’m happy to mail out), I don’t… Read more

Gearing Up

Posted in blog | Tagged | 1 Comment
The last day of winter holidays is always a weird one for me. Right after New Year’s I start feeling vaguely restless. One of those things where my mind knows it’s time to start cranking back up and out of its sluggish little hibernation…but the flesh? Yeah. It’s still wanting to plant itself on the couch for endless reading. Or movie watching. Or epic WoW raid sessions. (The last one is a lie. I rarely raid in WoW. But still.) Or eating. OMG, the eating. Tomorrow, it’s back on the diet. I swear it. Maybe. So here I am, under the distinct realization that the tree really does have to come down today. And I’ve been wearing the same flannel pjs for like three days. A shower is in order. Washing dishes. Laundry. A good vacuum. Tumbleweed needs her cage cleaned. And then the writing. I’ve been on a bit of… Read more

Monday Morning Updates

Posted in blog | Tagged , | Leave a comment
I found a black leaf yesterday (with red veins). It’s apropos of nothing except that I thought it would make an awesome writing prompt – Blood Leaves, anyone? Anyway, I spent all of the weekend working on the rough draft revisions of Book 2 – and I’m actually taking a vacation day from the real job today to implement them in the Word doc. I’m really not fond of having to do that, but it is what it is and sometimes time needs to be shuffled. (And deadlines wait for no one.) Good things that happened last week: Awesome Christmas cards from my DG fangirl peeps! (Including a brilliant hedgehog card which I will have to scan in later.) I also found out that BoD has been picked up by Target and Walmart. Doesn’t mean the book will be sold in every store across the country – I don’t know… Read more

Organization

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , | Leave a comment
I had a different post planned for today, but Blogger just ate it. Which irritates me, hence the picture. (And it’s a good fit for my muse this week too, honestly.) At any rate, the original finely crafted piece was about my complete and utter lack of any ability to organize anything. Hell, one might argue that if I were more organized I would have written the original post in Word or something, but I’m a blog-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kinda girl, I guess. So now that we have proof that I’m an unorganized idiot, we’ll just move right along into something else – namely my marketing plan, or lack thereof.  (I’m spotting a trend here.) I’m hitting the moment in time where I really have to start thinking about how I’m going to get the word out about my book. It’s almost like a perfect vacuum of sorts- but I have to be careful.… Read more
