Turkey Day Goofiness

Posted in Connor, Lucy | 1 Comment
Just a few pics from yesterday. I got stuck having to work from home today (with children), so between that and trying to NaNo, I sort of lost track of time as far as writing up a decent blog post went. So my old fallback? Post pictures! Not sure what Connor was doing here. I understand there was football going on, and I believe he also managed to run right through the screen door and completely blow it off his hinges. A moment of triumph, perhaps? Trouble, thy name is Lucy…(after her second change of clothes. Girl completely mangled one shirt and two other sets of pants playing outside). Yeah. I don’t know either.… Read more

Can the Tooth Fairy Fly in the Rain?

Posted in Connor, tooth fairy | Leave a comment
Not that teeth aren’t exciting in their own right. Connor lost two of them this week – although we had to have the dentist take them out. Probably didn’t help that he had fallen on the playground about a month ago and knocked all four of the bottom teeth loose. They didn’t come out but they were pretty wobbly. Still – the very front two have been barely holding on for the last few weeks and a quick glance inside showed the adults growing in quite nicely behind them. (He’s also got a couple of 6 year molars popping in there too, but he doesn’t seem quite as concerned about them.) So we took him to the dentist for a quick look and sure enough, the dentist just wrapped them up with a quick bit of tissue and popped them right out. And then the tooth fairy stuff began. Connor… Read more

Tricks and Treats

Just a late night update here. I wouldn’t call Halloween a bust, per se, but between the rainy damp thing going on (although it was 70 degrees out, go figure), and Connor still being sick enough that I actually had to come back to the house with him once it wasn’t overly great either. We managed to get a pretty good haul, even so. Enough so that the majority of it is going to the office with me so I can give it away, anyway. Damn diet is hard enough to stick to without a mountain of crap in the kitchen. But I have to say, I did feel a bit melancholy tonight. Maybe it was the rain. Maybe it was the fact that we didn’t get too many kids tonight, or that so many houses had their porch lights off. I seem to remember Halloween being a major deal… Read more

This is actually from yesterday. Dan took the kids out so I could wrap Lucy’s birthday presents…looks like Old Town Manassas was having a bit of a WW II exhibition. (Or getting ready for the zombie apocalypse, not sure which…) šŸ™‚ Honestly, it’s the Barbie sunglasses that do it for me here.  LOL. ** free render to whoever can tell me what movie that’s from (w/out googling it)… Read more

Boy-Crazy Girl Child

Posted in boys, Connor, Lucy | 2 Comments
My nearly 3 year old is crazy. Well. Maybe not. But I’m beginning to wonder how much trouble I’m going to have with the little darling when she hits her teen years. She’s already rather interested in boys. Case in point – when she saw the David Garrett video I was watching, she asked if she could “eat him.” (erm, get in line, honey). Actually what she said was “Who is that? Can I eat him? Can I eat his sweater?” The mind boggles, I guess… During our summer vacation, we visited one of our favorite pizza joints. Food was good, as it always is, but the table next to us was being served by a young guy named Rocky. Now admittedly, Rocky was pretty damned good looking, but as soon as Lucy saw him, her mouth just dropped open. Ignoring us and the her dinner, her eyes just followed… Read more
